2008 Day One Hundred Eighty Two

It's a scorcher today. 98 degrees. Tomorrow we have thunder storms coming in.

Absolutely nothing going on today. Have not done a thing. Maybe tomorrow I will be more ambitious.

2008 Day One Hundred Eighty One

Happy Sunday. Another hot day in store for us. M and DK are up early busy installing the other 2 air conditioners.

I made homemade salsa last night. It turned out so good and it was easy.

Take 7 to 8 jalapenos and boil them till they are soft. In a blender add the jalapenos, 1 large can of diced tomatoes, 8 garlic cloves, 1 chopped sweet onion, 1 - 2 tsp cumin, garlic salt, pepper, salt and 2 Tblsp lemon juice and blend till smooth. Stir in a helping of chopped cilantro. Spicy good!

We are clearing out the office today so we can paint it and turn it into the guest room, so thought I would get my posting done early. I may have to finish this post later on my laptop.

2008 Day One Hundred Eighty

The guys got one air conditioner installed. In the office where I spend alot of my day. The new air conditioner we bought does not fit the window track. They tried to jerry rig the thing but to no avail. So DK and I will take that ac back to Best Buy and get a credit and will venture down the road to find another. They will install the bigger AC in the living area of the house tomorrow.

Just a normal Saturday morning. M is getting ready to be off to work. The weather is still cool right now but will heat up to unbearable by this afternoon. Good day to stay in pop some kettle corn and watch a movie.

Betty gave a pretty cool and colorful award and allowed me pass it on to my favorite people who leave wonderful comments on my blog. So I'm sending out this award to:

1. Pidomon

2. Phydeaux Phriends

3. Peppylady

4. In A Mad, Mad, Mad World

6. Saying Nothing Charmingly

7. Sir Robin Rides Away

8. Dcup

9. Utah Savage

10. Aprilwine

***
We are back from traveling all over the northside of Spokane in the heat and swelter. Returned the air conditioner to Best Buy with no hassle. Went to Lowes and bought the paint to freshen up the guest room with no hassle. Went to Walmart and bought a new air conditioner. A helpful clerk told us there was one in an open box that we could look at to be sure it would fit our window. Put that on the Walmart credit card with no hassle. Last stop was Safeway to buy everything to make homemade salsa and tacos tonight. Went through the line of my favorite checker, so again no hassle that I had 17 items in the 15 item line. Before leaving the store we stopped at the in-store Jamba Juice stand and treated ourselves to smoothies. I love when life is hassle free!!

This afternoon we watched the movie, "Across The Universe". WONDERFUL. Not only the music was fantastic but the story revolves around the day and times I grew up in. The 60's, war protests, psychedelic memories all rolled into one movie. If you haven't seen this movie, SEE IT!

2008 Day One Hundred Seventy Nine

I thought this was an interesting picture of Bill and Chelsea. I remember the night when Bill and Al won the presidential election. We were cheering and laughing and crying. All seemed well in the world. I was optimistic. I'm not so optimistic now. But I will support Obama. Any one than McInsane. Please save us from the republicans and what they have done to our economy and country.

It's hot! I know I said last winter I would not complain once it got hot...but...you know.. Tomorrow is going to be 96 degrees. How will we live?

I left work at 9:30 this morning. I am still, after a week, not feeling too great. But I have a whole weekend to get better. I washed all the bedding, did the dishes and plan on scubbing the bathroom. That will be enough for today. Tonight it will be a Papa Murphy's Take and Bake Pizza.

Avista called to ask if I wanted to interview for a job I applied for, but, after hearing the specifics I turned it down. I must be patient and strong while I wait for the interview to happen next week.

I watched the end of the movie Benny & Joon. I love that movie. I always like happy ending movies. Plus it was made here in Spokane. Kind of neat seeing places I can recognize, even if they changed alot of things, like making the old brick victorian old folks home into a hospital.

I hope everyone has a nice weekend. If you are bored come on by for some peach ice tea or popcicle while we can sit in the coolness of the air conditioners' hum.

2008 Day One Hundred Seventy Eight

I took another day off today. Yesterday I picked DK up from the bus station. He looked the same except more tattoos and a beard. We both, M and I, explained the expectations, get a job, help out around here till you find one and all those kinds of things. Last night we bbq'd chicken and ate out on the deck. Today, of course, off he went to look up old friends.

The weather has been so nice today. This weekend we are expecting a heatwave. So it will be nice to have DK's help in installing the air conditioners. Today I'm still not feeling that great, but, did get to the bank and Walmart to pick up a few things we needed. I wanted to get that done before the weekend before Spokane hosts the largest 3 on 3 basketball tournament called Hoopfest, that covers all over downtown. It will be madness all over town. I will avoid all of that. I also got some laundry done and we plan on painting the office which will become the new guestroom. So I've been slowly clearing that room out. White walls and ceiling with a navy blue accent wall. M wants a nautical theme for the room.

The new show Hopkins starts tonight. I plan on recording it. I guess we are down to last of Hell's Kitchen. I was sad to see Corey go. No preference who wins now. Both would be great.

I heard from Dianne. The company she is setting up the interview at is promoting a new office manager (that Dianne placed). So my interview will be next week. I will be patient, but persistent, because this is what I want to happen. I will be practicing "The Secret" all next week. Keep your fingers crossed for me, please!!

Have a nice evening.

2008 Day One Hundred Seventy Seven

I haven't posted for a few days. After this weekend I was exhausted. I have finally come to the realization that I'm no longer as young as I thought I was.

Saturday, for the Northwest, it was hot and muggy. We do not get much humidity so I never realized how climatized I am, that I can longer take much humidity. Not that we did not have a good day, because we had a great day. We sold lots and I even made a pair of custom earrings for a gal who said she would pick them up on Sunday. (If you read further you will see what an act of fate this became to be) Anyway Sunday was much better weather and the day was wonderful. The market had a beer garden with BBQ and they also live music all through the day. There was a nice variety of vendors and we met some amazing people.

When I got home Sunday night I was so tired, that M took pity on me and took me out to the new mexican restaurant called 7 Mares (translates to the 7 seas) What an amazing dinner! We even had a 1/2 dozen oysters on the half shell and a shot of Patron. Both a no-no for me, but what the heck.

Back to work Monday came too soon. I was suppose to listen to a call on my quality monitoring that did not meet expectations because the woman said "you must be joking" and I said without thinking, "why would I be joking" I definitely need to get out of there. Monday night I sat up in bed and came to the realization I must call Dianne LaValley at Accountemps to find me a new job. In the past they have always done me right. So I called yesterday. She actually said, "what are you doing there?" She advised I could do much better at alot better pay. I made an appointment to see her yesterday afternoon and I was so surprised to see she was the same gal I made the customer earrings for! Is this a small world. I truly believe in fate! She is going to place me at a position that pays $3.00 to $4.00 an hour more money than what I'm making now. And NOT a call center!!

I took the day off today, because I just have not felt right the last few days. I have not been myself. I need a day to get my house in order. DK is on the bus heading for home. He just called and is in Portland and will hopefully be here by 6:00 tonight.

I have decided to fill out the meme at Bob's

2008 Day One Hundred Seventy One

Spent most of the day in training. Best Practices. First Step of slipping in the silver probe. They gave warnings of things to come. Now I'm really scared. It is deja vu all over again. Scenes from Pitney Bowes and other horrors. Must intensify my search. I got 2 rejections out of the six submissions I sent to Holy Family Hospital. Nothing yet from WA Trust.

Weather is a simply succulent 72 degrees. No rain predicted until Saturday night.

I've been working on earrings this afternoon. 2 more days till the craft show. Tomorrow I am going to Kmart and buy the table.

M is working an early shift today, so will be home early. I'm going to make tacos and have dinner out on the deck so we can enjoy some of this weather.

2008 Day One Hundred Seventy

Found out who will be my new team lead. Betty. She's okay. I've always found her fair and caring. There are far more worse ones on the floor. So we will see how it goes.

Not much going on today. Just normal stuff. No errands to run. I'm putting everything off till Friday.

Hell's Kitchen was pretty good last night. I was happy that Chef Ramsey sent Jen packing. Her voice and inflated ego annoyed me. My gal Corey is still hanging in there. Hopefully she can make it to the final 2.

I made a doctor appointment with a new doctor today. I really do not care for the current doctor. He practices in one of the largest clinics in town. They kind of treat you like cattle. In and out, not much interest in you, just in it for the money. So I am going to try this new guy. He's an internist and he has a woman dr in their office who specializes in diabetes and is also an endocronologist. Need that for my thyroid screenings once every two years. Plus he's closer too home - less driving.

Weather is still showering us with beauty. Hope it continues through the weekend.

2008 Day One Hundred Sixty Nine

We did not find out who our new team leads are today. After work I went and gave my written 30 day notice to cancel my membership at the gym. I am just not using it enough to justify the price. I also went to the bank and transferred money.

The weather is simply sensational. Just perfect. I have not done much this afternoon. Worked on a few projects.

We have 2 delinquents trying to terrorize the neighborhood. They like to dump trash cans, kick fences and just be a general nuisance. But today, they tried to set a garbage can on fire in the alley behind our garage. They also broke into my neighbor, Rose's, backyard and was jumping in her pool. I called crime check and they would not do anything and I called the fire department and they would not do anything. It is just a matter of time before they something really stupid terrible. We know who they are and we know where they live. Hopefully DK will have some ideas what to do to put the fear into them.

2008 Day One Hundred Sixty Eight

I got the email right before I was leaving for the day that my schedule will remain the same. Yeah, good thing. But, my team lead may change. Since all the team leads suck, some more than some, it will be interesting who I get. We will find that out tomorrow. Call centers, they always have to screw with you. I'm looking, I'm looking but, there is absolutely no good jobs out there.

After work I picked the dogs up from the groomer. Went back to the old groomer. We mended fences. The pups look great.

When I got home I watched the recorded episode of The next Food Network Star. It was Jeffrey's turn to go. He wasn't that great and not much of a personality, so no big loss. I then started working on making earrings. I would like to have about 50 pairs to take to the craft show we are working this weekend.

Lorna came by. I gave her a check for my part of the buy in for the craft show we are going to work once a month for the next 4 months. We talked for about 2 hours.

M is working days this week, so he will be home much earlier than usual. It will be nice to have dinner together every night without being so sleepy and too tired to converse about our day. It made it up to 82 degrees today. It is are only warm day of the week. The rest of the week will be in the low 70's.

Hope everyone has a good week.

I had such a good time yesterday painting pottery and laughing and talking with my girlfriends from work. Lunch was fun also. After we parted after lunch, Melissa accepted my invitation to go to the bead show. So many beautiful beads and findings, just wish I had more money. We then took M some lunch and went on home.

Today the weather is spectacular. We ate breakfast out on the deck. I filled the birdfeeder so it won't be long till we have lots of birds visiting.

Here are some pictures from yesterday:

2008 Day One Hundred Sixty Six

I am starting out with by following Betty by doing the Friday Feast meme on Saturday.

Appetizer
Do you consider yourself to be an optimist or a pessimist?

In my personal life I am an optimist. I always believe things will work out. Regarding the world in general I guess I am a pessimist. I don't see where it is going to get better. The war is going to drag on while politicians think it is more important to fight amongst themselves then solving real issues such as ending the war, fixing our economy woes, ending hunger, fixing the homeless situation, stoping the destoying of our environment and all the other terrible things we must face in the years to come.

Soup
What is your favorite color of ink to write with?

I like to write with fine point blue ink pen. Years of doing accounting type work has made that my favorite.

Salad
How often do you get a manicure or pedicure? Do you do them yourself or go to a salon and pay for them?

Before cancer I had nice fingernails. But now I keep them short so there is no need for a manicure. I do not like anyone touching my feet, so, pedicures are out.

Main Course
Have you ever won anything online? If so, what was it?

I have entered quite a few contests online, but, I have never won anything from online entries. In other contests I have won a nice Weber Kettle BBQ, door prizes at events that we have attended and raffles prizes at work events. One time I even won $500 off a Lottery scratch off ticket.

Dessert
In which room in your house do you keep your home computer?

We have many computer throughout the house. My desktop computer is in what we call our office that looks out to the backyard. I have a laptop station set up on a small desk in the living room and a laptop base station set up in my craft room. We have the computer we use as a server set up on a desk in the basement. We are geeky when it comes to computer and gadgets.

I am off today for our monthly girlfriend get together to go to Polka Dot Pottery to paint pottery. I will take my camera and try and take pictures. We are planning on having lunch at Round Table Pizza. After that I'm going out to the valley to a Bead Event being put on ny Blue Dragon Beads that Lorna told me about yesterday. So today is going to be all about fun.

2008 Day One Hundred Sixty Five

Its finally Friday! We had a team meeting today, but, they did not let us know what our schedule change is going to be. Grrrr!!

I have decided to make a whole line of peace sign jewlery. Everything from earrings to necklaces to anklets.

Too bad about Tim Russert, Only 58, 2 years older than me.

Another beautiful weather day and night. Lots of graduations going on all over town tonight. This weekend is going to be great. Tomorrow is my once a month get together with my girlfriends. Last month was the KY Derby at the casino, this month we are going to go and paint pottery. Sunday we may drive up to the lake for the day. I saw gas for $3.99 today. Hard to believe we consider that a bargain.

Hope everyone has a charming weekend.

2008 Day One Hundred Sixty Four

I love this picture, because I love her skin, so Irish white with freckles. Beautiful. Did you notice she is shopping for beads? A girl after my own heart.

A perfect weather day today. Little cloudy, but, a nice 70 degrees. When I got home I opened all the doors and few windows.

Nothing much going on today. I've been beading this afternoon just enjoying the fresh air and listening to a few favorite cd's. We are having leftovers for dinner, so I don't have to worry about that. Just a nice relaxing afternoon.

Tomorrow we are suppose to find out if they are going to change my shift. I will be pretty pissed if they change it. I've been working the same hours for 2 years. It gives me the opportunity to work a part time job in the afternoon. I will try not to fret about it until I know for sure. I just have this feeling its going to change.

I watched Keith Olberman tonight. HE IS MY HERO! We need more Keith's!!! He let John McInsane have it for his remark that bringing the troops home, Is Not Important. If we elect old feeble son of bitch as president we deserve what we get. Please, if you are a democrat or a thinking-compassionate human being please vote for anyone other that McBush!!!!!!

I found this on Pidomon's place and had to see who I would be.

2008 Day One Hundred Sixty Three

It's too bad we are both had to work today on our anniversary. We have been together for 28 years. We lived together for 3 years before getting married. I don't really remember M asking me to marry him, it was always something understood between us that we would eventually do. We decided to get married in Reno. We stopped at a mall somewhere on our ride to Reno and picked up rings. Nothing fancy, we did not have much money back then. The night before we went to our favorite casinos and gambled and drank and had a really fun night. We toured several wedding chapels looking at all the celebrity photos on the walls.

In the morning he tossed me the phone book and said pick one. I thought I would call around and check prices. So I called the first one which was the AAAA Wedding Chapel (next to Circus Circus) and almost before I could hang up the phone there was a baby blue limo, that had seen its better days, waiting outside our motel room to whisk us off. They first drove to the chapel where we signed all the paperwork. They tried to sell us all the extras. We kept saying no (I wanted to save all the money we had for our honeymoon) From the chapel the crazy limo driver us down to the courthouse to get the license. To get to the clerk's office you have to walk by where they were letting out all the prisioners from the night before. We were dressed up, so they could figure what we were there for so the cat calls went on all the way down the hall. In the clerk's office there was this lady who must have been 80 years old. She truly had no personality and must have been doing the job for 60 of those years. After we had signed for the license then it was back in the limo and back to the cheesy chapel. Remember when I was saying most chapels have nice pictures of celebrities that have married there before, ours had a black and white picture of Don Ameche(the geezer from Cocoon).

Again they tried to upsell us all the add on's. Again we both kept saying no. Needless to say they were not happy with us. We walked into the chapel and we heard music playing. Michael had to say, Hey, is that costing us anything? We heard, Yeah $5.00 bucks... M turns and says Turn It Off. When we walked into the chapel, it was white, except for the blue and green waterfall wallpaper scene behind the altar. Out comes the Reverend Ramona. She was a big woman decked out in a purple and orange moo moo and Lucille Ball orange-red hair. All the colors clashed so bad.

She starts off the ceremony saying, "Some marriages are not mean't to last..." My brain turned off at that point. I'm sure she went on and had a point. But to this day I don't remember the whole vows, just that first one liner.

So here we are 25 years later, still together, still in love and still happy.

2008 Day One Hundred Sixty Two

Okay, this is totally crazy but there was snow in some of the surrounding towns last night and it is still snowing in the mountains (4000 feet) It's June! How can it be snowing? Here in Spokane it was on the cool side and cloudy with rain off and on all day. It is suppose to be in the 30's tonight. The weather gods have gone nuts!

After work I stopped at Petco to buy the good dog food that does not turn my dog's feet red. Lady has a crazy allergy that makes her feet turn red when I buy the cheap stuff. Buy 10 bags - get one free.

I watched the first episode of Nashville Star. I kind of liked the guy they kicked off. Some of the little girl singers and the one trio of guys with the one with the weird hairdo were really pathetic. The two I was most impressed with was the black guy that looked like Cowboy Troy and the plus size gal who really sing. She was fabulous. Tonight is Hells Kitchen.

I made pork chops, potatoes au gratin and green beans for dinner. Easy to keep warm in the oven for M when he gets home. Tomorrow is our anniversary. We have been together most of my adult life, since I was 27 years old. I feel we have lived so many lifetimes. Most of that time has gone by so fast.

2008 Day One Hundred Sixty One

My last day of a three day weekend went by way too fast. Cloudy and mild most of the day. M and I's anniversary is on the 11th of this month. Since we were both off work we decided to treat ourselves to lunch out. We went to the Brooklyn Grill. We both ordered the open faced steak sandwich with steak fries and iced tea. It was a little overpriced, but very good. Not too many people in the restauraunt so it was a nice unhurried relaxing lunch.

After the lunch we browsed through Best Buy. M bought the PC game Blackhawk Down. We looked at phones, since our phones are at the end of their usefullness. Found an AT&T set with 5 handsets that we liked, but they only had the display model. They also did not have the movie I was looking for, Benny and Joon.

We wasted enough time that when we were done shopping it was time to go to M's first physical therapy appointment. That took about an hour or more. I read my book, helped myself to free cups of water (they only had black tea - not my favorite) and read all the magazines on their waiting room coffee table. It started to rain as we left the building.

By the time we got home it was pouring buckets and thunder and lightning was happening. Poor Sammie, he is scared of thunder.

I watched the 2nd episode of The Next Food network Star. They sent home my favorite. Bummer. Tonight I am recording the first episode of Nashville Star.

Hope everyone survived Monday and is ready for tackling Tuesday.

Its raining today. Good day to stay in and catch up on housework. There are bills to pay, floors to clean and laundry to wash and dry. I also will need to go to the market. I also have new beads to create with, an awful good book I have started, movies we have bought and have not watche yet and many tv shows on the DVR to catch up on watching. So I will keep busy most of the day.

2008 Day One Hundred Fifty Eight

Windy cool with sprinkles, but, hey its Friday. A three day weekend for me. I stopped at Michaels on my way home and bought, yes, your guess it, BEADS! I saw a co-worker who also does beading and we talked for awhile.

On my drive in to work this morning I saw that gas prices have risen above $4.00 a gallon. I will say this once again as I have been saying for almost 8 years:

WORST PRESIDENT EVER!!!!!!!!!!

I love to drive. I have been driving since I was 15 years old. Now with gas prices the way they are that joy has been sucked dry. I will soon have to learn to take the bus or ride a bike. Bummer.

M's office is having a luau tomorrow, so I stopped by the $1.00 store and bought decorations including lei's. For someone who hates potlucks he is really getting into this one. Plus he looks too cute in his Hawaiian shirt. He went to the orthopedic dr today and got a cortizone shot. He has a torn rotator cuff. He starts physical therapy on Monday.

Nothing much planned for the weekend. Just house stuff, beading, movie watching and book reading.

Have a nice Friday night.
