2008 Day Two Hundred Forty Three

So far it has been a lazy Labor Day Weekend. I have lots to do, but, no gumption to get started. Maybe today.

We have been watching the weather channel keeping track of the hurricanes down south. Sure hoping everyone makes it though them okay this time.

We are going to BBQ today. The weather predicted for this week is near perfect. What is everybody up to this weekend?

2008 Day Two Hundred Forty One

I am thinking we are going to win big time. I am declaring us Democrats winners after seeing McInsane's vp pick. She is no Hillary.

This week seemed to last forever. I am so happy that we have a 3 day weekend to recharge our batteries and just enjoy ourselves. I picked up M's weekly check for the part time work he does at the shop and then off to the bank. Seems to be becomming my Friday routine.

I went to Walmart and bought a really cool bead organizer vinyl bag. This weekend it is my goal to get all my beading supplies organized. I also bought some new shoes for the new job. No more jeans, tshirts and flip flops. Back to corporate America for me. I'm more than ready.

It is definitely hot tub night when M gets home. Nap first.

Have a wonderfully fun Labor Day Weekend!

2008 Day Two Hundred Forty

Thank you my friends for your good wishes. I am so looking forward to starting my new job.

I went to my last team meeting this morning. It was a joke because our supervisor was not ready. So we sat around and just talked for an hour. An hour off the phone is good no matter what you do. I kind of goofed off most of the day. I'm sure next week I will have the short timer's blues even more. I got out of the monitoring session since there is no need. That was very cool.

After work I went and deposited the checks from all the earring sales. M says I can't afford to quit there, yeah right! I stopped at my favorite store in the mall, CJ Banks, and bought a new blouse for my first day at work.

Tonight I am looking forward to Obama's speech.

2008 Day Two Hundred Thirty Nine

It is official. I gave my resignation and my last day will be September 5th. My first day at the new job will be September 8th. Thank you to everyone who offered me kind words and encouragement. I truly appreciate you.

It was raining when I went to work this morning, but, by the time I left it was cool, breezy and nice.

I sold $75 worth of earrings today. I must create more.

Ok, I admit it... I still love Bill! I would vote for him again. His speech was great as we all knew it would be. I am a long standing loyal Democrat. I will always be. I will campaign for the Obama/Biden ticket. We CANNOT let McInsane win and have 4 more years of the Bush Administration. This country cannot take that kind of beating. McCain wants more war, not less war, he wants to build 45 nuclear power plants. Is he kidding? I remember the protests and what it took to shut down Rancho Seco - now he wants to build them again? Didn't he say "the economy is not my strong suit"? These times we do not need someone who has no clue to fix the mess we are in. I could go on and on and probably will before November.

Have a good night and dreams of warm ocean breezes.

2008 Day Two Hundred Thirty Eight

I am taking a break from my western art collection and for a week or two will try to impress with ocean art collection.

I got the job! They called me today and offered me the job. It is making almost $3.00 per hour more money and pays weekly. We still have a few things to clear up, like the start date. It is either going to be September 02 or 08 and the hours I am going to work.

I loved Hillary's speech. I cannot believe that after her speech any Democrat would be a traitor and vote for McInsane. I personally don't know anyone who would think that way, and if I did, I would probably ignore them.

Looks like we are in for a wet Wednesday. Hope you are enjoying the end of summer.

Watched the first night of the convention. Loved seeing our American Princess, Caroline Kennedy. It was good to see Teddy one more time. And Jimmy Carter, always wonderful. What was wrong with his eye?

The speeches made by Obama's sister and brother in law were magnificient. And I was very impressed with Michelle. Now I wish I would have went and heard her speech when she was here in Spokane. M said heck with O'bama - he would vote for her!

I didn't go to work today. They will probably write me up. I went to the interview. I think I did well. But have not heard back yet. I have another interview tomorrow. So maybe I won't care if they write me up. I have fingers, toes and eyes crossed at this point. Hope I hear soemthing tomorrow.

2008 Day Two Hundred Thirty Four

I know, right now I am obsessed with this job interview on Monday. I have been reading their whole website. Practicing what I am going to say to expected questions, figuring out what to wear and remembering everything I want to include about my experience.

Ran errands after work. Stopped for coffee. The weather is in the 70's and perfect. It is suppose to heat up for the weekend. We all knew it wouldn't last, because it is still August.

I didn't stick to the menu plan this week, but I still cooked at home. We did go out with friends on Sunday for fish and chips. Tonight is ham stacks, one of M's favorites.

Hope everyone has a fabulous Friday night.

2008 Day Two Hundred Thirty Three

Today at work I had a meeting with my team lead about a bad call I had. I also had my 6 month review with my old team lead. Her advise is for me to pretend I care about the people I talk to and then magically some day I will actually care. Yeah right. The company did give us an appreciation lunch today. They had the cafeteria create a Mexican theme buffet. Everything you could possibly think of putting in a taco, along with rice, beans and enchiladas. I didn't have any, but, they had strawberry shortcake for dessert. It was nice. I really like the people I work with, too bad I dislike the job.

I have an interview on Monday at 2:00. I really want this job. I have the perfect background and experience for this job. Just hope the interview goes well. I also have an interview on Tuesday.

2008 Day Two Hundred Thirty Two

I've been busy the last few days. Had a good interview yesterday and will know more tomorrow.

Its funny how things work out. A while back I was waiting for word on a good paying job, but it never came through. I was going through an agency. Well Monday I saw an add on craigslist for the same job. So I sent them a resume. They called me today to set up an interview! I am now wondering if the agency ever sent my resume to them. I have an interview on the 26th.

Work still sucks. I am beading like crazy. And the weather is my favorite kind today. Overcast with fast moving clouds, cool and breezy. Feels like Fall. Makes me want to go out and buy pumpkins, bake apple stuff and decorate for Halloween. But it still August and I am sure it will get hot again way too soon.

2008 Day Two Hundred Twenty Nine

I am a little late posting from yesterday. I fell asleep. The heat really wears you down.

The training only lasted 1 1/2 hours. Not bad and much better than the 4 hours that were scheduled. I even sold 7 pairs of earrings. So it was worth attending.

I came home and stayed mostly in the coolness of the basement making earrings. I need to restock. I did stop at Joann's and bought more findings. I also called Lorna and told her I was not going to work the market because of the heat.

M called and needed me to bring his medicine so I did venture out in the heat. I bought us smoothies at Walnut Street Perk - my second new favorite coffee place.

Made egg salad sandwiches for dinner. We like ours a little different because we put sliced green olives in it and serve on hamburger buns.

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.

2008 Day Two Hundred Twenty Eight

Total earring sales this week was $83.00. I think I will make more. LOL!

M picked me up after work and we went and picked up the truck. It cost over $400. Ouch! But he says it is running better than before. Lets hope so.

From there he went to work and I drove up to Rings and Things for their anniversary sale. I got alot of really great beads. Picked up on eye pins and ear wires too. They had a very small selection of findings. In fact there were none that I cared for. Maybe that's a good thing. It kept me from spending too much.

I took M some lunch from Arctic Circle. Then off to Costco. M is having a weenie roast tomorrow for his staff, so, I had to buy the dogs, buns, condiments and some stuff for us too.

It was sweltering hot today. Over a 100 degrees. Tomorrow doesn't look any better. I'm pretty unhappy that I have to work 4 hours overtime tomorrow. Mandatory training. I was hoping I would have found a new job by now, so I wouldn't have to endure this. No such luck.

Here's wishing everybody I cool weekend.

2008 Day Two Hundred Twenty Seven

Another person quit at work today. That brings it to 10 or twelve in 2 months. Another goodbye potluck set for tomorrow. I don't really care for the person leaving so I am not participating this time. The fired Kaylee for attendance reasons. I never thought she was gone that much as compared to some, but I guess I wasn't paying attention. Ingrid liked the pink earrings and bought them from me today.

I applied for 3 more jobs. One called back and sent me an online application and assesment test. M is going help me pass the Excell test and help me with the access test.

I called the company I interviewed with yesterday and turned down the job. I just told them because of the vacation compensation and other considerations it would not be right for me and thanked him for the opportunity. But he did say if I had a change of mind to call them back.

M's truck is in the shop. It is getting a new thermostat and clutch fan. $400 we didn't anticipate on spending. We are thinking of trading the truck off on a SUV of some kind. Probably a KIA.

I'm picking M up from work tonight and he is taking me in the morning and then picking me up after work. Life would be hard if we only had one vehicle all the time.

TGIF to you all. And it's payday for us. WOO HOO!

2008 Day Two Hundred Twenty Six

Had my first one on one with my new team lead. She did not have monitoring done so it went pretty easy. She brought us breakfast (a choice of both pop tarts and/or bananas) I accepted the banana. She is nice that way. My old team lead asked me today if the rumor she heard was true - if I had accepted a new job. I said no. Which is not a lie. They fired Kaylee who sat katty corner to me today. I don't know why she was let go. She must have done something pretty bad to fire her when we are so low in reps. 2 more quit this week.

I drove out to Post Falls for the interview. It took me 45 minutes just to get out of Spokane because of all the road construction. But I made it in time and the interview went well. So well they asked me to go home and think about accepting and let them know tomorrow if I want the position. There is good and bad in this decision. The money is good (if I can believe what they say) the drive sucks, it would especially suck big time in the winter. The hours are flex and that is a good point and it is a casual atmosphere and not a call center. But they only give 3 days vacation a year? Are they kidding? I lost interest there. Doesn't sound like they value their people very much. So I am playing it around in my mind, only because the money is tempting.

I still have the interview on Monday. And I applied for another position this afternoon that pays $15 per hour, which is good for Spokane.

I sold another pair of earrings today to Nancy and got an order for a pair of pink (big dangles) from Ingrid. I will finish those tonight.

May you enjoy a thrilling Thursday!

2008 Day Two Hundred Twenty Five

An uneventful day at work. It is kind of boring with both Barb and Lonnie out on vacation. After work I drove up to M's work and delivered him a strawberry smoothie. I was kind of ugly to him yesterday and I feel bad about that. It was just one of those days. Got his weekly check for his little business and put it in the bank. Also went to the library and returned books and then checked out what I had on reserve.

Came home and did laundry, dishes and made earrings. I got a phone call for another interview on next Monday afternoon. Two calls in one week. I guess if you actually email out your resume you might get a response or two.

Making burritos tonight with the leftover BBQ steak. Not much else going on.

Happy humpy day tomorrow.

2008 Day Two Hundred Twenty Four

Uneventful day at work. They did start to play the game of Sorry between all the groups. All I could say is I'm sorry I work here.

After work I went to the interview. I had to take 6 tests. Two were about medical terminology and medical office insurance practices. It was long. I was there from 2:00 until almost 5:00. The interview part took about 5 mins.

Earlier in the day M discovered that all the resumes I was emailing out were sitting in the Outlook outbox unsent. So he sent them all. No wonder I have been getting very few call backs. I got a callback this afternoon and set up an interview for Wednesday afternoon.

I stopped at the store on my way home and we BBQ'd tonight. Now I am definitely ready for bed. It's been a long day.

2008 Day Two Hundred Twenty Three

Its an unusual cool summer morning. Leftover pizza and bloody marys for breakfast. Not many jobs listed in the paper for me. I do have the interview for tomorrow after work. I will need to iron something nice to wear.

2008 Day Two Hundred Twenty Two

I had a great day. First off I went to Barb's Mom's funeral, which should of been sad and it was, but it was so well done and I was captivated by this woman's life story. She was a very loved woman - the place was packed. I hugged Barb and she was doing well. Then I ventured on in and found my pals Lonnie, Jacqueline and Carol to sit with. It was a very nice service. Now I know why Barb is so special.

From the funeral I drove up to Lorna's. We decided to be spontaneous and drive to Airway Heights and check out a bead shop I saw a while back. The air show was also going on so the traffic was a wee bit slow, but not too terible and there were lots of planes flying up above in every direction. The shop was really cute. It is called Celtic Hearts. So not only was it a bead shop it also a nice array of Celtic things. The Saoirse in me adores that!

After shopping we stopped at Subway and bought sandwiches and drinks and then drove and had lunch with M where he works. They have picnic tables under some shade trees. The weather was gorgeous so it was a nice lunch.

We decided we were not done bead shopping so we went to the Flour Mill and went to Wonders of the World Beads. Bought some awesome findings and beads. It is always fun to spend the day with Lorna.

On my way home I stopped at Dutch Brothers and bought a wild berry smoothie. DK is treating us to pizza tonight, so I don't have to cook. How about that for making it an even a better day.

Is everyone having a nice Saturday too?

2008 Day Two Hundred Twenty One

This afternoon I watched the last episode I recorded of Saving Grave and then decided to take a short nap. I woke up when M called. Then walked upstairs and fell asleep again on the couch in front of the tv. Absolutely nothing accomplished! Must have needed the sleep.

This evening we had an amazing lightning storm all around us. I sat out on the deck and watched the show. The weather cooled by about 20 degrees. Oh yes, so nice!

I got a job rejection this evening, but earlier today I got a call for a job interview afterwork on Monday.

Thursday, August 7, 2008

2008 Day Two Hundred Twenty

Waited too late to post. I am going to upload the pictures and finish this post tomorrow.

It is going to muggy and hot today with maybe a little thunder thrown in. So here I am on my morning lunch 1/2 hour sitting in Hell and I guess from the sound of it is like hell outside. It was already 70 degrees at 4:00 am when I drove to work.

I have stuck to the menu all week. But I have not accomplished even one task on my to do list. I spent most of the afternoon yesterday making earrings yesterday. I did sell 2 pairs that I made this morning. That's a plus.

I also did a little catching up on my tv watching. Watched the 2 Saving Grace episodes I had recorded. I do hope she gets an emmy so they will continue the series. Last night I watched Big Brother. Most all of the people this season are just annoying or boring.

At least it is Friday and I am looking forward to 2 days of freedom. Did you know Saoirse means freedom in Gaelic?

Tomorrow morning is Barb's Mom's funeral. From there I am heading to Lorna's for beading and merriment. Sunday we are going to BBQ. Maybe get something checked off on my list.

Have a fun Friday!

2008 Day Two Hundred Nineteen

It was an okay day. Had the "little" meeting this morning with new supervisor Betty to talk about the ugly devil beast from the terrible call from the day before. Wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be and i did learn a tip or 2.

Barb called and asked if I would make her a pineapple cake, Of course I said yes. When I got home from work I started in and made the cake. Talked to M about his dr appointment, I guess it is going to be surgery. Now we need to know how much out of pocket expense there will be.

Took the cake over to Barb's. Came back home and got DK and drove him up to Best Buy. I browsed through Border Books. Lots of stuff I wanted but landed buying nothing which is good for someone cutting back and trying to save money.

Sticking to the menu plan. Fried Cube steaks, mac n cheese and asparagus. Trying to really tell if eating at home is saving us money.

Oh yeah. I finally called Dianne. She told me what I had expected. They gave the job to a temp who had been filling in for the AR person. I had thoughts this morning that I better make peace with Hell, because it looks like I may burn longer than I thought.

Have a thunderous Thursday.

2008 Day Two Hundred Eighteen

I did something I said I would never do today. I went the job fair Pitney was putting on to see if they would consider me as a re-hire. Not sure if they will pay the money I am making now. But it sure was nice to see the old homestead. I saw alot of my old pals including my stedfast friends Lorna and Sharma. I even saw Maria who hire me on the spot the first time I applied back in 2000.

Hotter than a pistol today. Driving home it was 91 degrees.

I called Barb and she seems to be doing pretty well today considering. The funeral is on Saturday and I do plan on attending. She was able to say what needed saying, hug and sing to her Mom for one last time. She said the Hospice staff made a horrible time bearable. Instead of flowers I will make a donation to hospice as the family has requested.

Still sticking to the menu plan. It's meatloaf tonight with mashed potatoes and corn. Of course corn, because I am a Hoosier girl. In an effort to get our budget back down I fired the lawn guy today and yesterday I cut the cable tv back to extended basic. After over ayear of direct billing the correct credit card they started billing a different card. Got that squared away with Julia (Pido - she was down in TX and she made her weather sound like our's was just a nice cool day in the Northwest - LOL)

Have a Westward ho Wednesday~!

2008 Day Two Hundred Seventeen

Another Monday. My friend Barb - her Mom passed away this morning. So sad. I will try calling her tomorrow.

Dog grooming day. Picked the pups up when I got off work. Starting to warm up outside. Tomorrow back to hot summer heat.

Sold 2 pairs of earrings today.

Nothing much else going on.
