2009 Day Thirty One

I am looking forward to a fun weekend. I have earrings to make, packages to ship and I am getting my hair done this afternoon. I'm feeling a little wild so I'm thinking more blonde and red over my brunette. If it turns out I will take pictures and will post them. If it doesn't look good, I may revert back to old and go blue like this lovely lady in the above collage.

DK has lots of new movies that we can choose from. I'm hoping to watch Swing Vote with Kevin Kostner.

2009 Day Thirty

Another cold morning, but, at least again no snow or the freezing rain they were forecasting. I'm glad today is Friday.

Last night I tried to make this caramel snack mix for M's potluck, but, it did not turn out right. I hate when that happens. Should not attempt difficult recipes when I am tired. I should have stuck with the tried and true chex mix, like he wanted. I guess he will need to pick something up at the store.

Last night I watched an episode of Leverage. This is such a good show starring Timothy Hutton. I saw that Saving Grace is coming back. Now that is my all time favorite show.

My friend Cher at work now has a blog, but, I realize now that I cannot add a Wordpress Blog to my blogroll. It is not accepting her blog address. Does anyone know if I am doing something wrong? Here's her blog

I want to send out a big thank you to Mojo for emailing me his wonderful candle photo that was featured on his blog. I cannot wait to print it out on photo paper and frame it. That was so extra sweet of you. If you want to see some interesting and fab photos and learn more about North Carolina check out his blog.

Well, Governor F Bomb is gone now. We won't have him to make fun of any more. I wonder who will be next to take the pundits place to have fun with. He did make it interesting the last week with his tv interview blitz.

I hope everyone has a fun Friday and for those of you that was having awful weather I hope it is improving and for those where it is still bad - stay and warm and safe.

2009 Day Twenty Nine

Today has been a great day. We got called into Deb's office and they brought us a present from their travels to Seattle. They brought us a bag of Urban City Coffee Roasters - Pike Street Drip Grind and each one of us a really cute colorful flowered coffee cup with its own ceramic spoon. Linda picked out the orange mug for me. It is great coffee! And it turned out to be payday (2 days early).

Last night I watched the current episode of Big Love that I had recorded. It is going to be such a great season. Anyone else a Big Love fan?

2009 Day Twenty Eight

It was a nice sunny day. Cold because it is winter, but, nice to see the sun. I made and brought a chocolate fudge cake to work for Susan's birthday. Our 2 immediate bosses were in Seattle today. I got quite a bit done today. I worked on reconcillations and terminations. It was kind of peaceful today.

Not much going on. Still working on my short term project. The Spotted Moose cafe is making something with porkchops. I saw a recipe for pineapple-cranberry baked porkchops, but left the recipe at work, but, I might be able to wing it. It will be served with rice a roni and green beans.

I am going to catch up on some tv watching too. I have so much recorded. How many of you are going to Super Bowl parties this weekend? We will watch Puppy Bowl on the Animal Planet like we every year. Both M and son could care less for sports, so, I am living in a blessed world. LOL...

Happy Birthday to my cousin, Sue, in Bloomington, IN. Find her link on my Facebook page and give her a b'day shout!!

2009 Day Twenty Seven

We had just a tad of sprinkling of snow so far today. Not the two inches of snow, that was predicted. And I am so glad!

Last night while watching Rachel she mentioned that she is going to have Governor F Bomb on her show. OMG how stupid is this guy? Rachel's show? She will cut him to pieces, at least I hope so. I don't want to miss this show, for sure!

I really need to work on the house when I get home. Between M being on vacation, blogging, Facebook and television I have not got very much done and the house is a disaster. I did get the laundry almost all caught up. I need to go through all my clothes and find a place for all of them or give away the old ones that I hardly wear anymore. I also made a goal to clean out the bookshelves in the office and find another place for them or give them away. We plan on painting the office white and one wall blue, but, first we need to de-clutter and get it ready for painting. I just have to make short term goals and conquer them.

2009 Day Twenty Six Happy Chinese New Year

I missed Chinese New Year. The Year of the OX came early this year. I wish all of you the best in this bullish new year.

Started out busy this morning. I made the peanut butter frosting for Jeff's birthday milk chocolate cake and fixed Dana's daughter's Tinkerbell necklace and fixed Deb's earrings. I got to work a little early.

It was a busy Monday. We had a large deposit and an 89 member group to enroll. Decided to eat in instead of going out with M. He had a package to pick up at the Postal Place anyway. Even though it was busy the day was fun. I enjoy the people I work with.

Snow forecasted for tomorrow. We knew it would happen sooner or later. I was hoping for way later. But we are only supposed to get less than an inch.

The Spotted Moose served leftover spaghetti, garlic bread along with cucumbers in vinegar and the guys had the leftover cake. I chose the leftover sugar free black cherry jello.

Not much going on tonight. I brough home the book Marley and Me that I borrowed from Michelle. We also have quite a few tv shows recorded to watch...or I just may go to bed early.

2009 Day Twenty Five

We woke up in the middle of the night and decided to go and soak in the hot tub. My shoulder really hasn't hurt since Friday. But it felt so good to get out in the 17 degree weather and sit in that hot steaming water. After that I went back to bed and slept in till 9:30. We decided to get out of the house again. I know, we are so bad. Decided to have breakfast at the Sportsman on North Market Street. Inside to my delight my ex-insurance agent Terina was having breakfast there also. I got to meet her sister, Katana, who is one of our customers from work. It was nice putting a face to her voice. Also met her Dad and son. She was our agent for about 12 years. I was sorry they non-renewed us (for the 2 floods and the burglary) because I would miss talking with her from time to time. My company bought her company's building and she is still working downstairs for another week and a half. She has bought quite a few earrings from me and helped introduce me to the other girls in her office who have bought earrings too.

After breakfast we drove on up north to Petsmart and bought dog food. They did not have the Rachel Ray food, so we bought a brand made we avocadoes that is good for skin. And that is what the pups really need. Since we were at Northpoint we stopped at Safeway and bought what I needed to make spaghetti and some cake mixes because I am making 2 birthday cakes this week.

Hope everyone is having a nice soothing Sunday.

2009 Day Twenty Four

I think everyone at work yesterday had the I want it to be the weekend blues. We muttled through the day getting done what had to be done. We talked about having a once a month after work get together. We just have to decide on a place to go.

After work I stopped at White Box Pies because afterall it was National Pie Day and the Spotted Moose Cafe does not have a pastry chef and also because M needed something sweet to celebrate his vacation. I decided on the sugar free banana creme pie. It was the perfect ending to the cube steak, mac n cheese and asparagus dinner at the Spotted Moose. During dinner we watched Food Network's Diners, Drive Ins and Dives. Made us want to go on a road trip again. I wanted to buy the book from Zooba, but, it is out of stock right now. It was a nice evening.

Today the only thing I need to get out and do is go and get dog food. I am going to try and find Rachel Ray's new brand. While surfing around to learn more about it I found a funny blog that had some made up chef's dog foods click here to see them.

What are you doing this weekend?

It is so cold here. Another gray and gloomy day. We decided to go out for a drive. I was amazed to see all the businesses destroyed by collapsed roofs. Our big Hancock Fabric Store; Rosauers Grocery Store; a consignment shop on Country Homes; a little strip mall that housed our favorite donut shop along side a futon store and over on Ash Street a vacant store that used to be a video store. I'm sure there are alot more all over town, but these were the ones I saw with fences around them and bulldozers tearing them down completely. We drove out to the valley and circled back towards town. We wanted to try The Bluz at the Bend, but they don't open till 4:00 and it was only 2:00. We were getting hungry so we headed to our new favorite place Litz's Place.

Crystal was behind the bar and took our order and Zack cooked the food. I ordered the sweet potato fries and gizzards and M had his favorite burger and fries. The sweet potato fries were so good - fried perfect and garnished with minced garlic. We won $8.00 back from our $20 worth of pull tabs. We sat and watched figure skaters on TV. Found out that Crystal also makes beads. Next time I come in I am going to go through her portfolio and see if we can work something out. I always give Litz' a full moose rump of spots.

Back out in the cold and back home. So tonight it's TV and playing on the computer. Michelle from work loaned me the book Marley and Me, so I may start reading that.

2009 Day Twenty Three

Yesterday we went to lunch at the Bittersweet Bistro on the lower south hill. It is a small place with limited seating and parking. They serve mostly crepes. I ordered #7 The Grizzly. It was quite tasty. It was crepe filled with sausage, potatoes, maple syrup and some kind of white cheese served with a fresh mixed greens salad. They offer foo foo coffee, but could not make a sugar free mocha. Looked like they had great desserts, but, you know I have to avoid those. I rate this place 4 spots on the moose.

Last night the Spotted Moose Cafe was closed due to being too tired to cook, so I stopped and got pizzas from papa Murphy's. Those are always good and there was enough leftover for lunch today. We went to bed so early so I had to record the first episode of Burn Notice.

This morning, since it was Friday, I stopped for a mocha at Secondwind Coffee Stand. Shelly made me a 20 oz triple raspberry sugar free mocha. He was good, but, could have been a little hotter. I had wanted cherry, but, she did not have that in sugar free. I rate this coffee stand 3 spots on the moose.

2009 Day Twenty Two Roe vs Wade Anniversary

We as a people must keep up the fight and keep women's health free to all women with NO restrictions of what they can or cannot do with their own bodies. I am not such an eloquent writer, but, I share the same compassion regarding this issue as Christina at Saying Nothing Charmingly. Please go here and read what she has written and keep voting to keep women's health issues private and free.

Diane from Diane's Place tagged me for a meme. It is a rather informal meme in which the tagger assigns you a letter of the alphabet and you then list 10 things you love that begin with that letter.

I won't tag anyone, but if you'd like to do the meme, just leave a comment or email me at spotmoose.22@yahoo.com or leave a comment and I'll assign you a letter for the meme. Diane assigned the letter S for me.

So here it goes:

1. My blog Saoirsedaily2. I love my blog and the freedom to write what I want to write about each day. I love to post my favorite pictures each day. saoirse means freedom in gaelic, if anyone is wondering. I have met so many truly wonderful, interesting and talented people through my blog. Some have become very good friends who I love to converse with each day.

2. Spokane is my current home. I have lived here for 15 years. I do love it here. It is a beautiful city. The winters are sometimes brutal, but, the other seasons make up for it. This year I plan on taking pictures all over Spokane and post them here to my blog along with a little hometown travel guide with reviews and things to do.

3. Scents. I'm hooked on scented things. From spices, candles, shampoos, detergents and just about everything. I usually will not buy an unscented product.

4. Sam Elliott - I have loved him since college age when I had his Justin Boot poster, that I swiped from the local western store, on my bedroom wall. The older he gets the better looking he gets. I still swooned when I saw him in the Golden Compass.

5. I love building sand castles. When I lived close to the beach I would gather up every can bowl and carving utensil and head out to build elaborate fancy sand castles. I always wanted to enter one of those contests that you see the pictures on the internet. I now live pretty far from the ocean, so I can just admire the pictures.

6. Star Gazing is something I love to do. When M and I used to travel we would always search out planetariums. Even now we love to get out in the country away from the lights of town and just gaze at the heavens and search out the constellations.

7. I have to put on this list Shih Tzu's. Especially my two Lady and Sammie. I love all dogs but shihtzus have become my favorite breed.

8. And sushi. OMG I love any type of sushi. We have several great places in town.

9. San Francisco is my number one love city. Every inch of that city is etched in my heart. I miss living and visiting her. Someday I am going on a roadtrip back to my old stomping grounds and enjoy all my old haunts.

10. Sculpture is a love of mine. One of my favorite things in art galleries is interesting sculpture. The sand castles and clay castles I used to collect are a form of sculpture.

So there is my list 10 10 "S" things I love. It took me 2 days to complete.

2009 Day Twenty One

I saw where blogger is going to have an outage at 4:00 PST so I thought I would do my post on my lunch hour.

It is icy cold outside, so I didn't feel the need to venture outside for lunch. We had our team meeting this morning. This company is a little chief heavy and it seems sometimes the managers must find projects for the workers so they have something to manage. I could be wrong, but that what it seems to me. Or maybe I'm just tired today. Today is the day I have to do collection calls. Because of the weather I think alot of our customers are getting their payments out late.

2009 Day Twenty Inauguration Day

This is the day we have waited on for 8 years! There will be jubilation and dancing for joy in our home. Too bad I have to go to work. They did promise we can watch the inauguration in the conference room on the big screen. But you know I will have live streaming from MSNBC going on my desktop.

I loved my day off yesterday. The video card went out on my desktop, so everything went a light blue and green. We went to Best Buy and bought me a new card and M installed it. I have living color again. We went to lunch at Litz's. We met the owners Dave and Tammy. Lunch was good. I asked if I could turn the tv closest to us to MSNBC and they obliged.

The Spotted Moose Cafe served homemade Chile Verde with flour tortillas. We watched Keith and Rachel. Took DK to work and came home and made it an early evening.

I took this picture of M while we were getting gas for Spendy:

We tried to take a few pictures of me, but, I looked too ugly and old. We will keep taking some until I like one I can post. I am going to start taking the camera everywhere I go so I can take pictures of the people I talk about and the places we go.

Thank you to everyone who became friends with me on my new Facebook page If you have a page let me know.

Have a great inauguration day and celebrate to the highest degree of party!

2009 Day Nineteen Martin Luther King Day

Today is not just a day off, but, a day to honor and remember a man of courage and greatness. It seems like every generation has certain people of greatness that rise to mentor and lead all of us into thinking a new and better way. I am hoping President Obama will be such a person. We need, at times like this, a wise president who can lead all of us with his intelligence, courage and heart.

2009 Day Eighteen

I wanted to play along on meme that I found on Mojo's blog The idea behind this tag is that you go to the 4th folder in your "My Pictures" folder (I assume you Mac users have something similar), find the 4th image and post it.

Here is mine:

The fourth folder in My Pictures is of earring designs I liked and want to replicate. I also wanted to get ideas on how to photograph my jewelry. I thought these bird earrings were so sweet and cute. I like how they used a little bit of flowers to enhance the picture. Ed, my photo guru, said that flowers would take away from what you are showcasing, but I somewhat disagree. What do you think?

2009 Day Seventeen

It was a typical Saturday. I spent most of the day running around. Took the dogs to the groomer and found out our normal groomer has not shown up for 3 weeks. Aqiulla said she tried calling her, but, she never returned her call. So she hired two new groomers at The Yuppy Puppy and I liked them very much right from the get go. The dogs were groomed just the way I like them to be, which Karen was failing to do the last few times I had them done by her.

Next stop was Fashion Bug to drop off my payment. I bought a nice pair of brown cordoroy slacks. I have not had a pair of cordoroys in a really long time. They had given me a $10.00 off coupon and they were marked down from $29.00 to $14.00, so, they were practically free.

I had to get Jiffy serviced so I decided to cut across town and go to this lube place that also has an expresso stand. I got there and found they did not have a barista, so no coffee. But they did have the Discovery channel on tv and I watched a NOVA special about asteroids. Plus my favorite scientist/genius was on the show: Neil deGrasse Tyson This man is smart, sexy and just fascinates me.

I got home around 4:00 after taking DK to work and my last stops at Numerica (to drop of Spendy's payment) Joann's and Walmart. I was defintiely done for the day.

I tried to type at my computer, but, my shoulder was acting up, so I chose to watch television and relax instead.

I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.

Friday, January 16, 2009

2009 Day Sixteen

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CAROL and many more. I hope you are enjoying the sun and fun in Texas!

I took 2 hours of my comp time yesterday. I left at 3:00. M got off work at 3:00 also. And what did I do with my precious off time. I went to the grocery store. What a waste to wonderful time off, but, it was better than going at 5:00 with the hords of people I usually have to manuever through. It was nice to have dinner together on a weeknight.

We watched the delusional speech of Bush patting himself on the back and not remembering that last 8 years as we remembered living through. I only wish him war crimes trials and torture in his prison cell.

Went to bed early. I'm glad it is Friday and I'm looking forward to my 3 day weekend.

I lost a follower to my blog. One of my favorite bloggers. I cannot blame her, because this blog is so boring and lame, but I will miss her. I hope I didn't do or say anything to offend.

I found this on Bob's blog:

Your Word is "Fearless"

You see life as your one chance to experience everything, and you just go for it!

You believe the biggest risk is being afraid and missing out on something amazing.

Sometimes your fearlessness means you're daring. You enjoy risky activities.

And sometimes your fearlessness means you're courageous. You're brave enough to do the right thing, even when it's scary.

2009 Day Fifteen

Yesterday I found out all the girls I work with suffer from the same shoulder pain. It is from sitting and typing on the computer all day. So we have decided at 10:00 and 3:00 to get out of our offices and do a series of neck and shoulder excercises. They actually helped. From 3-5 the pain went away. My new raise was in my paycheck yesterday. Very cool.

At lunch I went over to Rings n Things. I bought alot of Valentine themed beads. Saturday I plan on staying home and making jewelry.

I watched American Idol last night. I liked the guy who had lost his wife and the last gal who sang.

Freezing fog out this morning, so I better get a move on because the commute will be a little slower.

Wednesday, January 14, 2009

2009 Day Fourteen

Yesterday was a pretty good day. I had my performance review and they gave me another pay raise. Yeah! I also got to pick having MLK Day off or Presidents Day. I chose MLK Day (next Monday). We also noticed at 4:00 it was still light outside. It gave us hope that Spring will return.

Last night my shoulder ached so I took some aspirin and went to bed early. So I did not get to visit all the blogs I normally read. Something to do today on break and lunch.

Tuesday, January 13, 2009

2009 Day Thirteen

Yesterday everyone at work was just doggone worn out, including me. Not sure why, we were busy as always, but everyone was just tired.

M came and took me out to lunch like he does most Mondays. We tried someplace new. We went to Working Class Heroes on North Monroe. It is a cute bar and grill. Nice and clean. Each table had their own mini television and they were playing a local radio station with music from the eighties. They serve regular pub food. Remember I like all the wierd foods, so I had one of my favorite bar foods - fried gizzards and criss cross fries which were perfect. M had the fish and chips. We met the owner who came around to make sure we liked our lunch and told us about the nightly dinner specials they serve. Too bad M works nights. So any Spokanites that want to try a good place to go we recommend this one.

It was damp and foggy all day yesterday, maybe that is why everyone was kind of down. But it wasn't snowing and there is no snow forecasted for the rest of the week. I plan to mail some packages today, since I can actually make it to the post office at noon.

We watched the last episode from last season of Burn Notice. So now we are ready for the new season to begin on Jan 22nd. It is such a great show.

The Spotted Moose cafe will be serving potatoes au gratin and ham with sliced tomatoes and garlic rolls on the side tonight.

Monday, January 12, 2009

2009 Day Twelve

I can handle winter as long as I can still drive and get around. Its when I am stuck indoors for days in a row when I start to hate winter.

This weekend sped by so fast. I spent a nice day with M in front of the fire just enjoying being with one another. We watched the movie Six Days Seven Nights. We both liked it, of course, when it comes to movies we are easy to please. I watched Big Daddy's House that I had recorded and learned the correct way to make shepherds pie.

The Spotted Moose Cafe served tacos including rice and pinquichito beans. Not sure what is on the menu for tonight.

Sunday, January 11, 2009

2009 Day Eleven

It snowed the teeniest bit overnight. Just covering everything up, what they call a dusting.

We have an old friend, Gordon (Sammie's favorite person), coming over a visit this morning, so the house needs a little sprucing up.

Saturday, January 10, 2009

2009 Day Ten

It is Saturday, I am up early and house is still quiet. Good time to catch up on blog reading and comment posting.

Lots of things planned for today. We'll see how much I actually get done. I did tell my boss I am going to the office for a couple of hours and get some projects caught up. It will make Monday much easier.

Will check back later...

These are the things that can happen in the northwest: Moose crashes in basement This happened only a few blocks from my house.

Friday, January 9, 2009

2009 Day Nine

Just a normal day. I drove Spendy (M's car) today.Such a busy day! I brought my laptop to work so our IT guy, Tom, could set it up so I can work from home in case the weather turns severe again. Let's hope not! And looks like I will be working for a couple hours tomorrow to catch up. More comp time.

At lunch I went to the bank and stopped at Burger King and bought M and I the Angry Whopper. It was not that spicy. Wendy's spicy chicken sandwich or when they had there jalapeno burger was much better.

After work I stopped and did some grocery shopping. I'm going to bed early, it's been a long week. But it is the weekend and I am so happy for that.

Thanks for all the comments. I enjoyed reading them throughout my day.

Thursday, January 8, 2009

2009 Day Eight

Bob at work had contracted with a company to scrape and spray the parking lot last night. No sheets of ice to skate across! What a guy!

It was another busy day of trying to catch up. I'm home now, tired and planning to relax and watch some television.

Have a an awesome fun Friday!

Wednesday, January 7, 2009

2009 Day Seven

I drove Jiffy today! How I have missed my car. The roads were wet but very drivable. The snow is slowly melting away. The parking lot at work was still a sheet of ice and a good time was had by all trying to walk and navigate to the front entrance. But no well fell, so it was a good day.

We had the re-scheduled speaker with luncheon today. The topic was How to Manage Through Difficult Times. The presentation was more on ethics, choices and making and keeping friendships. Not at all what we thought it was going to be like. He seemed like a pretty nice man.

The rest of the day was very busy. I will probably work overtime on Saturday. I got the okay from Linda today.

DK is treating us to Pizza Hut pasta tonight. So I will have time to work on 3 special jewelry orders tonight. I think they finally picked up our garbage today, it's been over 2 weeks. So I will clean out the fridge too.

New episode of Ugly Betty tomorrow night!

Found this over at Peppylady:

You Are Gold

You are almost universally admired. People strive to be like you.

You are also highly valued. Your friendship, approval, and advice are all considered priceless.

You live an inspiring, fortunate life. Not many people are as lucky as you are.

But you haven't gotten to where you are on luck alone. You are incredibly competitive and ambitious.

Onward to Thursday! Break out the flip flops and the Jimmy Buffett cd's tomorrow is going to be 48 degrees!!!

Goddess of Compassion

2009 Day Six

I awoke to snow once again. What happened to the Pineapple Express they promised? Another day of figuring the logisitics of getting to and from work because we are not sure Jiffy can maneuver the side streets without getting stuck. And just to think December is not our snowy month.

I am home now and the big meltdown has begun. What isn't slushy is icy. Little streams have started to run and potholes filled with puddles are showing up all over the place.

Tonight at the Spotted Moose Cafe is Steak and Cheese taquitos with refried beans and sliced avacados.

I got the car at lunchtime from M, so I had the joy of driving home, but, now I will have to pick him up tonight.

Have a wicked Wednesday with some fun thrown in.

Monday, January 5, 2009

2009 Day Five

What a day! I got up early and had forgot that I promised to make MJ a cake for her birthday. So I got busy and made her a lemon cake. I also made tuna fish for our lunches. It was snowing pretty hard when M took me to work this morning. The traffic was awful and I landed up being about 10 minutes late.

After being off for the holiday we were swamped with work. Lots of new groups to add and lots of terminations to process. Then the mail came. I deposited 101 checks. For our company that is alot. We also had a company meeting and learned that we were in the black for 2008, hired a new lawyer and operating officer and rented the old building to the United Way with a 6 year lease.

It stopped snowing mid day. I am hoping they are right about the Pineapple Express to help melt all this snow away. Hopefully without flooding.

When M picked me up tonight we really wanted to go out to dinner. But with our new goals in mind, we came home and made dinner. So I transferred the $50.00 we would have spent dining out and put it on the VISA.

Tonight after visiting my favorite blogs, I am going to work on some new earring pictures.

Hope everyone has a cool Tuesday.

2009 Day Four

Happy Sunday! The sun is shining and all we can say is, What's that big firey ball in the sky?

I found this wonderful soup recipe to try this week at the Spotted Moose Cafe:

*Roasted Tomato Soup with Garlic*
Serves 4

I know that this looks like a lot of garlic, but roasting the garlic really mellows it out and gives it a wonderful flavour. This is a delicious soup, just perfect with a grilled cheese sandwich for dunking!

3 pounds plum tomatoes, halved lengthwise
3 tablespoons olive oil
3 TBS of roasted garlic (see below)
1 1/2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh rosemary or 1 1/4 teaspoons dried
1 1/2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh thyme or 1 1/4 teaspoons dried
1/4 teaspoon (or more) dried crushed red pepper
6 cups chicken stock or canned low-salt broth
6 tablespoons chopped fresh basil

Preheat oven to 200*C/400*F. Place the tomatoes, cut side up, on large baking sheet. Sprinkle with salt and pepper, and drizzle with 3 tablespoons olive oil. Roast until the tomatoes are brown and tender. This should take about an hour. Remove from the oven and cool slightly.

Transfer the tomatoes and any accumulated juices to a food processor, along with the roasted garlic. Pulse until slightly chunky. Transfer this mixture to a large pot. Add the rosemary, thyme and dried crushed red pepper, mixing together well. Add the chicken stock and bring it to the boil. Reduce the heat and simmer, uncovered, until soup thickens slightly, about 25 minutes. Remove from heat. Stir in the basil and season to taste with salt and pepper.

To Roast Garlic:

Pre-heat the oven to 200*C/400*F. Take your heads of garlic and peel them down to the cloves, leaving the heads intact and the skin on the individual cloves. Using a sharp knife, cut off 1/4 to 1/2 inch of the tops. Place each head on a double thick square of aluminium foil, large enough to wrap loosely around the head of garlic and close tightly. Drizzle each with a bit of olive oil and season liberally with some sea salt and freshly ground black pepper. Bring the foil up to cover it completely and seal.

Place the sealed heads of garlic on a baking tray and roast them in the heated oven for 30 to 35 minutes, or until they feel soft when lightly pressed.

Remove them from the oven and allow them to cool enough so that you can easily handle them. Remove the cloves from inside the roasted skins using the tip of a sharp knife, or the tines of a fork. You can also squeeze them out.

You now have roasted garlic just ready to use in things like soups, mashed potatoes, spread over warm and toasted french bread, mashed and mixed into sour cream as a topping for baked potatoes, etc. You can freeze it in small containers for long term use as well.

I found this at a blog titled: A Year From Oak Cottage She has a cute Etsy shop too.

3:02 - We just finished watching the movie The Golden Compass. What a fantastic movie! A cliffhanger with no sequel in sight. I now have to buy all the books in the series so I can find out what happens next.

2009 Day Three

Two more days off to enjoy. Today is going to be a little busy. First thing, I'm taking Michael to work and then heading for Costco for essentials.

Spent most of the day driving around and shopping. It has been so long I almost forgot how to shop. I said almost. Big Five had BearPaw boots on sale, but, by the time we got there not only were they out of M's size they did not have a single paid left in the store. I did buy DK some good hiking boots that were on sale. We stopped at Joann's and bought some chain to fix a necklace. Then off to the downtown mall. DK wanted to go and see a movie before work and I had a Nordstrom's gift card to spend. I bought M a winter beret style hat and some fur top knit house. socks. There went that $50.00.

Now I am home till I go and pick M up at 7:00.

TV tonight on HBO the movie Jumper

The Spotted Moose Cafe is serving Jalapeno Bacon Cheesburgers and fries.

2009 Day Two

OMG it is snowing again! I'm still planning on going to work today for a few hours. I need to go by the post box place if I can make it there. Need to see if my bead order has arrived and M's new license plates. I wanted to go to Costco, but, not sure if that is going to happen today or any out of the ordinary driving. I'm so tired of my freedom to come and go being restricted. If I didn't love it here so much in the other seasons I would be campaigning to move.

Yesterday we watched the movie Dark Knight. It was long, but, have to agree with Pidomon, it was very good.

While cleaning out a box of paperwork M found a library book, The Yoga Face. I had lost last Spring. I had paid the library for the book, so, now it is mine.

Tonight at the Spotted Moose Cafe we will be serving Hot pork sandwiches, mashed potatoes and pork gravy over homemade bread.

TV watching tonight: On the travel Channel a new episode of Most Haunted On Starz a movie Moving McAllister and on TNT a move The Wedding Date.

I'm going to play along with Peppylady's meme. She is going to list 3 words and we must find the first thing that comes up in a seach. You are to post the first sentence.

1. Mountain - The Mountain Winery Our tasting room is located in our newly renovated Winery Building at the Historic Paul Masson Wine Estate in the city of Saratoga.
2. Mabon The Wheel of the Year holds several purposes, both theological and practical. Theologically, the story of the Wheel often varies depending on the Tradition.

3. A Male Name of Your Choosing - of course I chose Michael. Michael Moore Friends,
They could have given the loan on the condition that the automakers start building only cars and mass transit that reduce our dependency on oil.

Went to work for about 4 hours. Deb bought us Starbucks coffee. I still hate that they do not offer a sugar free mocha. She got me a sugar free cinnamon quad something and it was quite good. Then for lunch Ted bought us pizza from David's Pizza We ordered the thin crust chicken garlic pizza. Oh and that was quite good too.

After work I drove (yes, he let me drive the new car, amazing) over to Rings and Things because they had extended their end of year clearance sale. I got so many wonderful things for only $33.00. Then I drove to the post box place and picked up M's new license plates and my bead order from Bead Mecca.
