2009 Day Fifty Eight

I am a little late posting from yesterday. I wore myself out. I went to Les Schwab's and got my tires rotated on Jiffy. This is the best tire shop ever! When they were done there was no charge. He just said come back when you are ready to buy tires. I give these guys 5 spots on the Spotted Moose.

Next stop, I wandered around the mall. I went to JC Penney's bought 2 new pair of shoes that were 50% off. The girls working in the shoe department were all so great. They were so busy but they were so patient and friendly, running back and forth getting shoes for everyone and being actually helpful. 5 spots on the Moose for them too. Monday, Ed is going to take our pictures for the company website. Since I could not find a burka anywhere, I bought 2 new tops. I nice black blouse, which I will wear Monday and a green one for our St Pat's staff outing that is coming up.

Since almost every light bulb in our house needs replacing I had to go to Walmart and then to the grocery store, by the time I was done with all the errands it was 4:00. You think you are all done, but, then you have to put it all away!

I spent the rest of the day watching tv and reading blogs. When M came home we soaked in the hot tub. My shoulder is acting up again, so that was so relaxing and soothing.

I hope you all had a nice Saturday.

2009 Day Fifty Seven

Not much time to post. I made it through yesterday. We got most everything done that needed to be done. I did not take my lunch so I was able to leave 40 minutes early, but, had to make the bank deposit, so I got home about 5 minutes before I normally leave work.

The Spotted Moose Cafe served Fried cube steaks, mashed potatoes and green beans, but did not get that done until after we watched American Idol. I was okay with the first two that were selected to move on, but, I absolutely hate the last guy. He is way too creepy for me.

I am so happy it is Friday.

2009 Day Fifty Six

We watched American Idol last night. It seemed every singer DK and I liked the judges did not. Except for the 16 year old redhead and the cute blonde with the wonderful tatooed sleeve. It will be interesting who the three will be that goes on.

Today is going to be the busiest day ever. Maureen is still out on vacation, my boss, Linda is skiing for 2 days and Joyce is leaving early to go to the Brad Paisley concert tonight. The other 2 at noon are going to a conference about the new stimulus cobra plan. So that leaves me. I'm up for the challenge. At least I think so.

2009 Day Fifty Five

Is it only Wednesday? This morning was one of those mornings I could have slept in for a few more hours.

I missed the President's speech last night. I caught bits and pieces and then I saw the Louisiana Governor's rebuttal. Is this guy way out in right field? No regard for the people of his state. Refusing the money? I know every cobra administrator in his state is cheering, but, it seems the wonderful people of Louisiana get screwed again.

2009 Day Fifty Four

Another tremendous busy day. I keep thinking I will have time at work to type in my blog on my lunch hour. I don't know why I thought that.

M and I went out to dinner. The Sportsman out on Market Street. I had their liver, onions and bacon as I often do. The food was good, but, don't you hate when the waitress tells you their personal problems? Like about her heat flashes or something or another. And the milk tasted funny. Not bad exactly, but, funny. Maybe I'm just tired.

Not much else going on in my little boring life. But, tomorrow is another day to excell. I hope all of you have a wonderful Wednesday.

2009 Day Fifty Three

It was a busy, busy day. Just like I thought it would be. It rained most of the day. I hope it washes all the snow berms away.

I received an award from one of my favorite blog friends, Peggy at Utah Savage.

I am very honored. I love her blog. Sometimes she writes so personal that you want to reach through the tubes and give her a hug, other times she writes so fearce about politics that you want to join her crusade and take to the streets and then other times she makes me laugh. It is always an interesting place to visit.

So I need to bestow this award on 8 blog friends who mean alot to me. Here we go:

Steve at Pidomon Posts

Lisa at That's Why

Mathman at When Will I Use This?

Betty at Betty's This and That

Linda at Vulture Peak Muse

Diane at Diane's Place

Vikki at Knikked

Lorenzo at Crowned With Laurels

These wonderful talented people have such great blogs. I have become very good friends with most all of these sweet bloggers. One I consider a kindred soul, one an inspiration, one almost like a sister and a few I would like to know better.

Have a nice evening, while I listen to the rain.

2009 Day Fifty Two

This painting is titled Goddess of Harmony. That is what I want to be. A domestic harmonic goddess - that is my goal.

We actually had sun yesterday. For a change I drove M to work yesterday. We stopped at a new Mexican place on 3rd called Atalinas. I ordered the breakfast burrito. OMG it was hot and delicious and very reasonable in price. Not much for atmosphere, but, it was clean. M loved his California burrito as well and then ordered one to go for later in his work day, which we actually shared when he got off work. I give Atalina's 3 1/2 spots on the moose.

After I left M off I headed over to this store I've seen advertised for quite awhile called the Hippie Chic. I expected really cool stuff, but, was greatly dissapointed when all she had was ugly used clothes and shoes and some badly made old ugly jewelry. She did have some inscense and some beaded curtains, but, nothing was displayed. From there I went to Staples and picked up some software M had ordered. I just want to know do office supply stores go out of there way to hire the rudest store clerks ever? Or did they get their inital training at Starbucks where rude is written into the training manual? We wanted to buy a certain harddrive and I brought in a printed sheet from their website that said they had them in stock. I was laughed at and told they did not and had not had them in stock for awhile. I suggested maybe they should fix their website, again I was rebuffed. Left there and went to Office Depot, where I was met with rudeness again, but, they did have the harddrive as their website indicated.

I am making Lasagna today. I had everything to make it except cottage cheese and fresh mushrooms and wine. I use cottage cheese instead of ricotta. To me, I like the taste better. I don't make this very often because it is so labor intensive. I usually buy the frozen kind, but, I wanted something special today. I bought salad fixings and french bread for garlic bread. I also bought a bottle of Ravens Wood Zinfandel for the sauce and to drink.

2009 Day Fifty

Another week in the bucket. It was a great day yesterday at work. We got the billing out and I took the last box of it tot the post office on my way home. Since I spent most of the day stuffing bills and sending out the Ebills, I have lots to keep me busy on Monday.

Michele and I ordered off BOMC2 the book by Peter Walsh, "Does This Clutter Make My Butt Look Fat?" We have decided we are going to get serious about losing the clutter and I want to start working towards my new years resolution.

When I got home I just relaxed, knowing I will be busy this weekend. I watched a recorded episode of Leverage.

2009 Day Forty Nine

I went and picked up my new glasses today. I love them. They actually look like what I remembered when I picked them out 10 days ago.

I went to the Alpine Deli on 3rd for lunch today. Last time we went it wasn't very good. But today I was craving a cheese sandwich and they had just the ticket. A nice soft buttersoss cheese on rye. It was great. I brought snacks of cheese, german bologna and wassa sourdough crackers. I give Alpine 4 spots on the Moose today.

I'm home after stopping at the grocery store after work. I'm ready to relax and watch some television.

2009 Day Forty Nine

I did not get around to posting anything yesterday. I picked this picture because I saw 5 robins in my backyard. That tells me spring is just around the corner.

I watched American Idol and was glad to see my favorite, Danny, make it to the top 12. I was sad Tatiana did not make it. Her drama would have made good tv. The oil rigger guy won't last. But I agreed that the Memphis pink hair girl was a good choice to move on. I also watched last week's Grey's Anatomy and Ugly Betty. I love DVR magic!

Not much else going on, just wanted to post something.

2009 Day Forty Eight

Went to work this morning after shaving all the ice off Jiffy. It was her turn to spend the night outside the garage. It was bright and sunny most of the morning. Made us wish for Spring more than we were already. I am so caught up at work from the slow day yesterday that this afternoon I would have very little to do, so I asked if I could take some of my comp time. My boss said to take it all since I need to by 1st quarter. So at 1:30 I waltzed out the building. Made the bank deposit and stopped at the bread store and now I am home.

I am making cherry pies this afternoon. One for home and 2 to take to work tomorrow.

2009 Day Forty Seven Happy Presidents Day

Last night was almost perfect. It snowed lightly off and on throughout the day and night. The stew turned out perfect. We watched the movie Fools Gold. It was a fun and entertaining romp. Made me wish we were rich and had a big boat and it was warm again and...well you get the point.

Today I went to work. Most of the girls in the office chose this holiday to be off. I kept myself busy all day. Now my desk is completely caught up, except for the reconciliations, which will probably never be caught up.

I was very happy to see 5:00. One good thing about holiday Mondays is the traffic is nice and light. I made fried chicken tacos for dinner. We watched a PBS series about why we love our dogs and cats. I've always been a dog person. I've always had a dog. I can see why people like cats, but, I think I have only had one cat and he stayed mostly in the barn catching mice and displaying them so nicely for me.

I'm going to play Bob's meme! Here's the deal:

Grab the nearest book - no matter what it is. Textbook, novel, pop-up book, building code study guide, whatever.

Turn to page 25.
Read the 10th word on that page, or the following if that one is blank.
Type that word into Google Image search.
Post the third image.
Tag 4 people and tell them.
Link back to this post.

And here's my result:

The word was remove.

Go ahead and try it. I would love to see where it takes you. Let me know.

2009 Day Forty Six

We are planning a free form Sunday. Do what you want, when you want kind of day. I put beef stew in the crock pot and will make the cornbread when it is done this afternoon. We are watching the pre-race shows for Daytona. I am hoping it does not get rained out. There's a fire in the fireplace and its been snowing this morning. So a good day to stay in and enjoy being home.

2009 Day Forty Five Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Kissy kiss kiss mooshy day. M has to work till 9:00, so we won't celebrate till he gets home.

Yesterday was such a fun day at work. Our bosses (all 3) took us out for a recognition lunch at The Wild Sage Bistro. It was alot of fun and the food was very upscale and good. I had the mufaletta panini sandwich with mixed green salad. I even cheated and had the coconut cake for dessert. They gave us little plaques and we all felt quite rewarded.

Today has been so busy. Took the pups to the Yuppy Puppy to be groomed. Then off to Walmart, since I have not been there for 2 months. Then onto Safeway to do 2 weeks of grocery shopping. My friend, Barb, came by for a short visit. She brought me the coolest beads from her trip to Portland. She brought me up to date with all the gossip from where I used to work. After that it was back to pick up the pups. Got home in time to make DK and I a hamburger for lunch and then drove him to work. I stopped at Dutch Brothers and bought M a quad double chocolate mocha and delivered it to him.

Now I am home till M gets home. Lots of house chores and laundry to get caught up on.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Valentines Day whichever way you choose to celebrate.

2009 Day Forty Four Happy Friday the 13th

I have never thought Friday the 13th as an unlucky day because today was my Dad's birthday. He's been gone now for 30 or more years and I still miss him everyday. I was lucky to know him and be his daughter. But it does not hurt to be cautious on this day.

2009 Day Forty Three

I woke up to hives on my back and legs. Then they moved to my arms and chest. I do not know how I got them. Nothing in my life like food, shampoos, detergent, worries have changed any. Does anyone know how come we get these?

Fearless leader got stuck in Seattle because the plane he was on was grounded for repairs. We had our monthly team meeting. Not much to say there, just a big sigh. The girls on staff still went to lunch. We went to my favorite place, King Yen. The food was absolutely fabulous. We ate, laughed and talked shop. It was a great day.

I watched last Sunday's episode of Big Love when I got home. It is getting so good. M is home early and we dined on leftover pizza. M is watching Survivor and I'm taking a shower then applying cordizone cream and going to bed. I took a Benadryl at work and I think it is making me sleepy.

On the news: They are now showing a surveilance picture of the truck that hit and drug Snoozy Susie. There is a reward set up. Hopefully this guy will be caught.

Have a foo foo fun Friday.

Wednesday, February 11, 2009

2009 Day Forty Two

I need more time! Time to complete tasks, time to do the things I like, more time to spend with friends and loved ones. I just need to manage my time better I guess.

Last night I picked up chinese food for dinner to give me more time...but I watched tv with DK instead. We watched a recorded episode of Life on Mars. Then I watched American idol. My favorite guy and his best buddy are still hanging in there.

I kept working on projects all day. I went to the bank twice with deposits. I brought the Valentine cake and all but one little piece was eaten.

After work I stopped and got a Papa Murphy's pizza. M is getting off work early, so we will have a nice dinner together, for a change.

More on the woman who was dragged and murdered. Her name was Susie. She got divorced about 8 years ago and left her kids with her husband living in Mead, WA. Since the divorce I guess she has been bouncing around living with one friend to another. The last time her parents saw her was last Friday when she dropped by to use their computer to apply for a bookkeeping job. Saturday night she went to Casey's Bar and Grill on Monroe. It's kind of run down place that's been there forever. I used to go to the restaurant for Toastmaster's Meetings. But on the weekends they have bands that play. So last Saturday night she was at Casey's, seems she was a regular there because the bartender nicknamed her Snoozy Susie, because she would drink and then fall asleep. She paid her $3.00 cover charge and they cut off serving her at midnight. So she might have been a wee bit drunk. She called a guy friend and asked for a ride home after the bar closed. He has known her since high school. He told her he could not come and get her. And yes, he feels like crap now for not coming and driving her home. So that is why she was walking in that neighborhood at 3:30 in the morning. So we are thinking the suspect did not know her and it must have been random. When the suspect, a heavy set white male, was checking under his car with his flashlight a witness said he talked to someone in a teal colored station wagon. We are wondering why this person hasn't come forward. Or maybe they have and we don't know officially yet. The hit and run suspect is still on the lamb. Myself and the other amateur slueths in my office are on the case and have our eye out for a green boxy SUV with possible damage. This guy needs to be found.

2009 Day Forty One

I didn't have time this morning to write anything, but, did post the picture. Yesterday after work I was treated to dinner at my mom-in-law's. The Linden Estate served ham and beans with homemade salsa (which I got a whole jar to take home, sinfully good cornbread and I even snuck a piece a cherry pie.

Today was project day. I just steadily worked on projects. It was snowing when I left this morning, but, it quit when I got to work. It tried to start again, but, not cold enough to stick.

Tonight I am making a cherry chip cake with pink 7 minute frosting to take to work tomorrow in honor of Valentine's Day. We have outings planned for Thursday and Friday, so, I'm bringing the cake tomorrow.

I stopped and got Chinese Food takeout on my way home. Just did not feel like cooking tonight.

We had a bizarre crime happen on Saturday night. A man in a boxy green SUV hit a woman and drug her for 15 blocks. The police found body parts along the route she was drug. A witness said she saw him back up on the one way and then stopped, got out with a flashlight and looked under his car and then got back in his car and took off. He is still on the lamb. Us at work, as amateur dectectives, are trying to figure this out. The area she was hit is nicknamed Felony Flats. What was a 42 year old woman walking around in Felony Flats at 3:30 in the morning? Did she know this guy? Did he do this on purpose or was it a horrible accident? They said she had "issues". What could that mean? They interviewed her parents and they are saying how they forgive this guy and if he walked to their door they would hug him? HU? Now that is bizzare!!

So that is going on here in my little world...what's going on in yours?

Monday, February 9, 2009

2009 Day Forty

Where did the weekend go? We are suppose to get a little snow this morning and more snow tomorrow. I'm sure it is going to be a busy day today.

Yesterday was nice. I slept in till an heard of 11:30. I never do that, but, I guess I can't say that anymore. We drove out to Airway Heights, a town west of us. The sun was shining and skies were clear for a change. We stopped and had lunch at Carl's Jr, M's new favorite place. When we drove through the main drag I noticed the little Celtic/Bead shop that I went with Lorna last summer is now gone and a cell phone place has taken its place. So sad. They had some really cool stuff. We drove home the back way through the country. We passed the casino. They are building a multi story hotel. The recession doesn't seem to be hurting them.

We spent the rest of the day doing stuff around the house, playing on the computer and I made brownies.

DK is coming down with something. I tried to talk him into staying home from work, but he insisted on going. Now he will come home sicker and hopefully we won't get what he has.

I did put some new songs on my blog radio, so I have new tunes to listen to while at work. Let's all survive Monday!

Sunday, February 8, 2009

2009 Day Thirty Nine

Yesterday I did get out of the house for just a little bit. It was so cold. I went by the Post Box place and mailed something and then swung around and went to Office Depot. I was surprised to see that Tony Stewart will be driving for them this year. What happened to Opie? Spokane is punch card crazy. Buy so many and get something free. Well, every place has a card. To make them easy to find I keep a business card holder in the driver's side door compartment. Well the leather cover came off from the one I was using, so I stopped and got a new one. Now to remember to put it back in the car!

I also went to the grocery store. Since I have now become the official birthday cake maker at work, they had cake mixes on sale buy 2 get 3 free. So I stocked up with Cherry Chip, Strawberry, Lemon, Yellow and Devils Food. No birthdays in February, but, I plan on making a cake Wednesday in honor of Valentines Day.

The rest of the day I was just lazy. The Spotted Moose Cafe did serve shrimp stir fry, but again with the lazy theme I went to King Yen and bought the fried rice and wontons. Geesh, I type alot about food...

Today we have nothing planned. We may stay in and watch movies, or we may get our lazy butts out of the house. We shall see.

2009 Day Thirty Eight

It snowed yesterday, but, today might get up to 40 degrees. That's good because I have to get out today and run just a few errands. But most of the day I am going to do housework, make jewelry and watch movies. Just a normal weekend for me.

The Admiral at It's A Mad, Mad, Mad World got me to thinking about Leonard Nimoy. I was never a big Star Trek fan, but, I did watch it throughout the years. So I went surfing to see what he is doing now. I found Nimoy's photography website and was amazed and enchanted by his photos. here is one of my favorites:

I also loved the full bodied photos. I love how he makes women, no matter what size, look beautiful.

2009 Day Thirty Seven

The eye exam yesterday showed that the freckle behind my eye is still a freckle. He said my optic nerves are very strong, which is very good news to a diabetic. I ordered new glasses. I love the new frames and can't wait til they get here.

It's so great it is Friday. We have a billing reconcillation meeting today. Not much else going on. It's raining outside. This is good - it will wash some more of the snow berms away.

Hope everyone has a nice Friday.

Thursday, February 5, 2009

2009 Day Thirty Six

I'm feeling better about things today. Not sure what was going on yesterday, but, it seemed to have passed.

I got a couple of things accomplished yesterday. I made an eye exam for today. I also called Comcast to discuss my bill. It got to where I did not know what my monthly charge was. It's not as bad as I thought with adding all those channels, so I made a payment. After work I stopped for gas and got a 50 cent discount per gallon which brought it down to $1.38 per gallon. What a difference from last year.

Last night I watched the new Gone Country on CMT. I also watched American Idol. My favorite guy, the one who's wife died has made it to another round. Glad to see bikini gal go. She was so infatuated with herself, it was funny.

Today I need to call or email my friend, Paul, in Coeur d Alene because he and his wife do accounting. I need someone to do our taxes this year, because M's little side business actually made money this year. We found a new tax break for this year. If you bought a new car after November 12th, which we did, you can write off the sales tax and interest.

Hope everyone has a nice Thursday. We had warm sunshine yesterday, almost to 45 degrees! The ice berms are finally melting a little.

2009 Day Thirty Five

I have an uneasy vibe. I cannot explain it. It started yesterday afternoon. Something evil is in the air. I've tried to ignore for the past months seeing things. Pidomon, I am going to use the cards today to help me focus what is happening.

Besides that, last night I cleaned house, as I always do when I'm worried about something. I watched the lastest recorded episode of Big Love. It is going to be another great season. Besides Sir Robin getting hooked, anyone else watching?

The Spotted Moose served steak and eggs and toast. Nothing fancy. Tonight is chicken breast sandwiches. Again nothing fancy.

Tuesday, February 3, 2009

2009 Day Thirty Four

Last night The Spotted Moose Cafe treated us to a fabulous rib eye steak and bake dinner. We watched the latest recorded episode of Burn Notice. It was a nice night. I love Monday nights because M is home and life feels normal.

Over at my friend, Cher's blog she asked So — ruling out a person or any living being — what is the object of your affection?

I am very uncomplicated. I can think of 3 things that are my objects of affection:

My 2 computers. My desktop and my laptop. I love them both. They take me anywhere I want to go. Visiting friends, shopping, exploring and so many other places. It would be very sad if I didn't have them to log into everyday.

Second would be Jiffy, my car, my little black KIA Optima EX. She gives me the freedom to go anywhere I want to go. I have loved her since the very first day we saw her on the lot. Even when M wanted me to buy the 4 wheel drive, I had my eye on her. It was mean't to be. I missed driving her this winter when she was snowbound. It just made me appreciate her more.

Third would be my jewelry. I have collected earrings and other pieces my whole life. Sometimes they make me feel pretty and special, other times they invoke memories of presents from loved ones and friends and also places I have been or times in my life - good and bad.

So now I'm asking you: So — ruling out a person or any living being — what is the object of your affection?

2009 Day Thirty Three

The weekend is over and I cannot believe it is time to go back to work already. We had a nice day yesterday. DK went with me to the grocery store. I have not seen the store that busy since last Christmas Eve. I guess everyone was stocking up for game day. I just wanted to take advantage of the one day steak sale. Because I had DK's help, I bought all the heavy stuff.

We watched 2 movides yesterday. The first one was Keeping the Faith with Ben Stiller, Ed Norton and Jenna Elfman. It was a cute movie and yes, I cried at the end.

The second movie we watched was Failure To Launch with Matthew McConaughey and Sarah Jessica Parker. We laughed all the way through this movie. Kathy Bates and Terry Bradshaw were a scream as parents.

We even snuck in some of Puppy Bowl from the Animal Planet. The Spotted Moose Cafe served chili dogs with diet root beer. So all in all it was a good day.

2009 Day Thirty Two

It is icy cold this morning. We had a nice pink sunrise, but, now has turned cloudy. I have been keeping busy all morning cleaning the kitchen, doing laundry, catching up on blog reading and catching a little television. M is now watching an old John Wayne movie. I am blessed to live with a man who does not love sports. No Superbowl parties for us. But if you are heading off for one today, have fun. Our plans are to stick around home and watch movies all day.
