2008 Day Three Hundred Fifty Four

Happy New Year Everybody! I thought I was going to enjoy 4 glorious days off...well.. because I am so behind at work, I'm going into the office for a few hours on Friday to get caught up and receive comp time for my labor. I had the choice and I chose comp time.

If I can give everyone a tip. Do not try and grocery shop the day before a holiday. What a mad house. Mostly crazy people driving around with their heads up there...well you know.

I made bacon burgers for dinner and we watch the movie musical Mama Mia! Loved it! I will be singing those songs for weeks.

How many stayed up till midnite?

2008 Day Three Hundred Fifty Three

Thanks to Zee I searched and turned off the annoying word verification. I never knew I had it turned on. So now it is gone.

We are hoping for a day with no snow. Justin is coming out this morning to remove the snow from our garage roof. Another worry removed from the worry box. I saw that Spokane made the national news with our snow totals and roof collapses. Flat roofs are dangerous here when we get lots of snow.

I am working on my New Years resolutions. Yesterday at lunch, M took me to The Viking, we discussed what we would like to accomplish this year. And a few places we would like to visit once spring and summer come. I noticed last year I did not make or write down any resolutions, so I cannot look back and see if I accomplished any. How about you - any resolutions for 2009?

M is giving up another vacation day and going to work. But he is still going to drive me to work and pick me up. Jiffy is spending another warm day in the garage. I wonder if she is getting garage fever?

2008 Day Three Hundred Fifty Two

The thaw continues, but, more snow coming for this week. The start of another three day week. I think I can get used to this. Today will be stressful because we lost everything that was entered last week, so all of that work will need to be re-entered along with all the new stuff for this week.

Michael is on vacation this week. He will be taking me to work and picking me up most of the week because all that has thawed has turned into sheets of ice. I guess I should have bought a 4-wheel drive instead of Jiffy. I think that every winter.

* * *

I got to work and it started snowing really hard, covering everything with thick wet snow. It continued most of the day not letting up till about 3:30. Another 7 inches of snow. It's crazy! The roof at one of large grocery stores collapsed. I guess there are collasped roofs and carports all over town. We are paying someone tomorrow to remove the snow from our garage roof.

Most of the work was still on the computer, only had to re-enter a few terminations. Whew!

Fearless leader sent us an email letting us leave at 4:00. Was glad to see it. Wonder what will happen tomorrow.

Because of the weather I could not make it to the end of the year clearance sales at Rings and Things. Bummer. I bet alot of people could not make it. Maybe next time. I did get an email from Bead Mecca. The order I placed this weekend shipped today. They are located in Oregon, so, it should not take very long to get here.

2008 Day Three Hundred Fifty One

The big melt has started and I am happy to see it.

I've been spending the day looking at earring pictures on flickr, trying to get new ideas.

Not much going on today, just a lazy Sunday.

2008 Day Three Hundred Fifty

It is Saturday, my shopping day, my running around having fun day. But not today. We got 5 to 6 inches of snow overnight. So here I am again snowed in. I should be happy. I can get things done around the house that I've been procrastinating about.

I did make breakfast. I did do the dishes and some laundry. That is about it so far. I watched the movie Mad Money with Diane Keaton, Ted Danson and Queen Latifah. Now that was a fantasy - to steal all that money and get away with it!

The folks went to Costco, so I agreed to watch Angel. DK and M went to work, so it's just me and the shih tzu's.

I did make a bead order at Bead Mecca this morning, so maybe it is a good thing I can't get out and about. Saves money this way.

2008 Day Three Hundred Forty Nine

I am loving this day off. We got up and had rolls and coffee for breakfast while watching the movie, Out Of Africa. I had never seen it before. I now know why it won so many awards. Wonderful movie. Of course 2 of my favorite actors of all time, Meryl Streep and Robert Redford, so how could it not be great.

Our internet was down for part of the day yesterday, so I did not get to visit as many friend's blogs as I wanted. Our phone is still down, so I am now waiting for the cable guy to come out. Sometme between 1:00 and 5:00. Light flurries in the air and still looking and feeling like winter out there. But it is nice inside. I got a book to finish, movies to watch, earrings to make and blogs to read.

Hope you all have a nice day too.

2008 Day Three Hundred Forty Eight Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas or Happy Hanukkah to everyone that celebrates.

I finally got to drive the new car. And wouldn't you know it I get to drive on a day when it is icy and snowing. Yesterday work let us out at 2:00. Our database dumped and we lost all the work we had accomplished for the week. I got all my filing caught up, but, with no computer, there is not much to do. So M picked me up and I took him back to work and then I drove home with all the holiday idiots. I picked DK up and made out way to the grocery store. Oh what an adventure that was! So many people. But I bought enough food for 2 weeks, including prime rib and shrimp for cocktails for today. The prime rib was 1/2 off - so it was a bargain. Then at 8:30 DK and I headed back out to pick M up. I was sad he had to work on Christmas Eve till 9:00. On the way home we stopped at Hollywood Video and picked up the Mama Mia movie I had ordered.

We all slept in, except me. I got up and did some laundry, hung up and put away all the coats, scarves, hats, gloves and boots. Now they are out removing snow.

2008 Day Three Hundred Forty Six

Another blistery cold morning. I did make it to work yesterday and got quite a bit done. M came and picked me up at 4:00, right before dark.

We drove over and picked up my Cricut. I also got the two other orders - the ear lifts and the goddess beads. Anyone wanting the Dcup inspired earrings - I can offer them now.

We walked over to Pueblo Amigo for dinner. It was totally awful. So terrible I had a stomach ache all night. We will not be going out again for a long time or until next time.

But we did hook up my Cricut and I cut out a heart and a flower. It is so awesome. I am going to watch the DVD that came with it tonight.

I woke a little bit late, so off we venture into the frozen north to another fascinating day at work.

2008 Day Three Hundred Forty Six

It is snowing even harder this morning. I called into work and Fearless Leader said to wait til around 10:00 and try and make it in then. Watching the webcams all over town shows slide offs and wrecks. What a winter already!

2008 Day Three Hundred Forty Four Happy Yule

Happy Yule everyone! Not much of a celebration this year for us. M was called to work for the day because of the weather. It snowed overnight and now is frigid cold. Another day of being snowed in.

My plans for today is clean the house, bake bread and make earrings. Might sneak in a movie or 2.

My Cricut should be delivered tomorrow, so, I will need to clear a table in my studio for it. I am very excited for all the projects I plan to make with it.

I got a card from my aunt and godmother yesterday which included her phone number down in Orlando, Florida. So I plan on calling her today.

I am so looking forward to 2 movies coming out on christmas day. Marley and Me and Spirit. I love going to the movies. I know it is expensive, but, I still prefer watching a movie at the theatre while munching on popcorn.

2008 Day Three Hundred Forty Three

I actually got out among the living today. Chris took me and the dogs to the groomer. On our way back we stopped so he could go to Ace hardware. While he was there I checked to see if my Cricut had been delivered. No, it did not. I went to the grocery store and got supplies. Isn't that what they say when snowed in. Another 2 storms are lined up but may go above or around us.

So tonight when M finally gets home I will have a fire in the fireplace and steak and baked for dinner. He has to work tomorrow, so we may not bring my car home until Monday.

I watched the movie Christmas with the Kranks, trying to get in the holiday spirit. I also made fudge. Not my best effort, but, I'm sure it tastes good. Too much humidity tonight to make it perfect.

2008 Day Three Hundred Forty Two

Sunset behind a snowy Christmas tree

Got up, got ready to go to work, wrapped Bob's present, and slowly M drove us, actually crawled to work. Just getting off our street was the bad part. But there is always ones driving too fast amd slipping and sliding there way along. Got to work and fearless leader comes out and says there is no need to be at work again today. So there we are all dressed up and no where to dance. I looked at Jiffy all encased in snow and ice, so, no way was I going to drive her home. Plus she would not be able to maneuver on our street because until they plow she will just get high centered. So M drove me all the way back home.

So another day of hanging around home. I now have cabin fever! I watched a little tv, paid bills, did some more laundry (we are completely caught up now) made earrings and had lunch. It is still lightly snowing outside.

M is getting off early and bringing home a pizza. No need to worry what I'm going to make for supper. So movie night it is.

Hope everyone is having a nice Friday and is looking forward to a great weekend.

Mt. Spokane Mist

We are snowed in. Since yesterday morning we have had 25 inches of snow. Cannot get off the side street onto the main street without getting high centered. Called into work this morning and Fearless Leader said do not bother making the trip because we could not get into the driveway when or if we even got there. There are accidents, car fires and jack-knifed trucks all over town. We have been listening to the police scanner all morning. What a mess!

So here I am warm and snug in the house. We have plenty of food and drink. I'm getting the laundry caught up, making earrings, movie watching, new tarot cards to learn to read (Thank you, Pidomon) and just enjoying the day off.

They sent a car to pick M up to go to work. He was not too happy that he could not stay home too. His company is putting them up in a hotel tonight. I'm hoping he can come home in the morning to get me to work, if I have to go, because we left Jiffy at my work.

I cannot believe its been since Monday since I blogged. I've been enjoying reading everyone else's blog.

2008 Day Three Hundred Forty One

It was so cold today. It only got to eight degrees. M drove me to work and I was glad I did not have to drive on the icy roads. We stopped for coffee on our way to work. He got called into work on his day off because they had 400 hundred calls from people who could not start their cars because of the cold.

I kept busy all day. I now have two monitors on my desk. I mostly worked on the deposit and the aging all day.

After work we went to King Yen for dinner. It is consistently good there. We had the whole place to ourselves. Now we are home full as ticks and warm and ready for bed.

Hope you all have an awesome Tuesday and hopefully with no ice or snow.

2008 Day Three Hundred Forty

Even with the frigid temperatures this morning, we got up and went to pick up DK and we all went out to breakfast. After breakfast we dropped Dk off at home and then we ventured out. Went to Michael's to see if they had a Cricut Expressions machine. No one in town has them. All sold out. So we came home and bought one on Ebay from Oh My Crafts in Utah. I am so excited. So many things I can create with this machine.

Today I am getting a start on addressing all our Christmas cards. I will probably have to buy more cards. I also have a few jewelry orders to finish and get ready to mail and deliver tomorrow.

Hope eveyone is having a nice Sunday.

This picture is of my favorite park (Corbin Park, Spokane) in winter.

2008 Day Three Hundred Thirty Nine

It is snowy, icy and downright cold outside. So I am staying in today. No driving around, no shopping. But I have plenty to keep me busy. Earrings to make, cards to address, cd's to make, laundry to wash, bedding to change and general housecleaning to do. And its a good day to stay in and do that. I was going to bake, but, I have no flour. I cannot believe I ran out of flour.

My plan is to keep adding to this post all day.

Its getting colder outside. I've been making earrings down in my studio. I'm going to take pictures and post some of the new styles. I have a couple of orders to fill, so I will need to finish those too.

I decided on beans and cornbread for tonight. Something warm and filling. Sometime before it gets dark I need to put my boots on and go put some chemicals in the hot tub. Just might want to take a soak in it tonight.

2008 Day Three Hundred Thirty Seven

A big thank you to Dcup (Lisa) for spotlighting my new blog that showcases my little jewelry business. She is such a generous and kind person. And she is also a wonderful writer. Visit her blog and you will be hooked, just like me.

Today at work I learned that Ed is a professional photographer. I went down and asked for his advise about the jewelry pictures. He is actually going to help me! Yeah. Maybe I can have the site that I've dreamed of having. Thank you Ed!

Went to a new place for lunch. Andy's Teriyaki on Garland. Very good. Charbroiled chicken and sticky rice - Yum!

Awaiting a big storm to blow in by tomorrow afternoon.

2008 Day Three Hundred Thirty Five

Let's think of somewhere tropical today. It's going to be a cold and gray-dreary day, so thoughts of cool gentle breezes and palm trees and warm sandy beaches will help while away the day.

Not much going on around here, just counting down the days to Winter's Solstice. I need to get my candles. And I also need to get my Christmas cards addressed and cd's made for co-workers and friends who celebrate Christmas. I need to fill the bird feeders and buy the little suet packs to hang on the outdoor trees for the birds that stick around though the winter.

I am making potato soup tonight. It will be perfect on a cold winter's night. I need to make more earrings for Lorna's Friday night party.. So much to do just wish I had a little more ambition.

Hope everyone has a nice Wednesday. Aloha!

Here are the lyrics of my new favorite song. I found a Youtube clip of John Stewart singing it. And lately Kenny Chesney has made it popular again. Wish I knew how to post Youtube clips. If you can, go find it. It's a one of those songs that stay with you.

Lucky Old Sun

Up in the mornin', out on a job,
Work like the devil for my pay.
But that lucky old sun got nothin' to do,
But roll around heaven all day.

Fuss with my woman, toil for my kids,
Wheat till I'm wrinkled and gray.
While that lucky old sun got nothin' to do,
But roll around heaven all day.

Good Lord up above, can't you hear me cryin'?
Tears all in my eyes.
Send in a cloud with your silvery linin',
Lift me to paradise.

Oh, show me that river, take me across,
wash all my troubles away.
Like that lucky old sun, gimme nothin' to do,
But roll around heaven all day.

Like that lucky old sun, gimme nothin' to do,
But roll around heaven all day.

2008 Day Three Hundred Five

The weekend is over. Yesterday we went for a drive out to the valley. It was raining and cold, but, it was nice to get out of the house for awhile. Stopped at Walnut Street Perk and got mochas. Whe I got home I made pot roast with roasted potatoes and carrots. Tomorrow we will turn it into burritos.

I got my new blog link added. Spotted Moose Jewels. I wish I was a better photographer because the pictures really don't do justice. The earrings are much prettier in person. I'm thinking of getting a tripod and a better way to display the items. Let me know what you think.

Have a great day everybody.

2008 Day Three Hundred Thirty Three

It's early Saturday morning and I've already been up for hours. I've made some earrings and have taken my shower.

I am usually always up before M on Saturdays. I take my shower early so he will have enought hot water when he finally drags hisself up the stairs for his. I love scented shampoos. Currently I have a vanilla scent, a coconut scent and a fresh rain scent in our shower. I also have a bottle of Head and Shoulders, because having dark hair I am prone to dandruff. If I use that once a week it keeps it under control. For conditioners I have a berry smoothie scent, fresh rain scent and a jasmine scent. I've been using the handmade soap I bought at the party I went to with Joyce. It has a wonderful fresh lemongrass scent. I take long hot showers. I sometimes sing, but alot of times it is where I think and reflect.

2008 Day Three Hundred Thirty One

Well, Thursday is in the bag and we are rolling towards the weekend. I'm ready for a weekend, that's for sure.

Today at work Fearless Leader bought each one of us a poinsetta plant for our office. I picked the red and white jingle bell poinsetta. So pretty. Let's hope I don't kill it too quick.

Thursday night is my favorite tv night. I'm guilty. I like Ugly Betty and Grey's Anatomy.

Hope you had a nice day today and a fun friday!

2008 Day Three Hundred Thirty

Patrick McManus writes:

I have this theory that people possess a certain capacity for worry, no more, no less. It's as though a person has a little psychic box that he feels compelled to keep filled with worries. When one worry disappears from the box, he immediately replaces it with another worry, so the box is always full. He is never short of worries. If a new crop of worries come in, the person sorts through the box for lesser worries and kicks them out, until he has enough room for the new worries. The lesser worries just lie around on the floor, until there's room in the box for them again, and then there put back in. They're welcomed by the worries that have been in the box all the time: "Hi Guys! Good to have you back. Boy, you should have seen the duds that just left. And they have the nerve to call themselves worries!"

This morning my box of worries runneth over.

2008 Day Three Hundred Twenty Nine

Busy day at work yesterday after being gone for 4 days. The deposit alone took 3 hours. M and I met for lunch at the Viking. We need to break the going out habit we seem to keep repeating. Since the new car we do not have the money for that.

Last night we made homemade chili and cornbread. It was so warm and comforting. I think I will add this recipe to DK's cookbook.

Back to our regular routine as of today, so not much going on around here.

Obama has made some interesting choices so far. I like that he picked Hillary for Secretary of State. Madelyn Albright was on the television yesterday speaking of her relationship with Hillary and holds her in high regard. Here locally the recounts are in and the dems won some and lost some. We live on the red side of the state unfortunately. We do have a liberal mayor and hopefully the city council won't rob the city blind this time, as they have in the past.

Its been raining overnight, but, seems to have stopped for now. It will be another damp gray day. At least its too warm to snow.
