2009 Day Eighteen

I wanted to play along on meme that I found on Mojo's blog The idea behind this tag is that you go to the 4th folder in your "My Pictures" folder (I assume you Mac users have something similar), find the 4th image and post it.

Here is mine:

The fourth folder in My Pictures is of earring designs I liked and want to replicate. I also wanted to get ideas on how to photograph my jewelry. I thought these bird earrings were so sweet and cute. I like how they used a little bit of flowers to enhance the picture. Ed, my photo guru, said that flowers would take away from what you are showcasing, but I somewhat disagree. What do you think?

I like the earrings, and I don't think the flowers take anything away from them.

Our temperature right now at 9:30 AM is 38 degrees. Still no snow here, and I'm wishing for some.

Have a good Sunday.

I agree. I think the flowers actually do more than that and enhance the color of the earrings. The blue would not pop in the picture as it does without the contrast from the pink. IMO.

And I want to play too.

Huuuuuuuummmmm. I think I agree with Ed.... I would use more of the green leaves as the frame for the earrings perhaps..... But then I love analogous colors.....IMHO....oh, and I like the earrings very much!!

I love the earrings, and I think this photographic treatment is a good one for this pair.

We have had 40% days and all the snow along with the ice sculptures melted. This has caused the creeks in town to over-flow, wreaking havok around Anchorage. I can't believe I'd ever wish for more snow. It just looks so depressing, dirty, and dingy. Yuck!

I hopr that your Sunday is a nice one.

As long as you're not overpowering the subject to the point where you don't know what the subject is supposed to be adding other elements is fine. In this case I don't think the flowers detracted (or distracted) by being in the shot, but if I were taking it, I might have gotten the earrings "out front" more. Maybe blurring the flowers somewhat by using a ridiculously short depth of field. But I don't know what kind of camera you use, so that might have been a little tricky. On a point and shoot model, the portrait setting might do the job if you don't have a macro setting.

Those earrings are really pretty. I do like the way they are photographed, but I understand what Ed is saying. I think that particular photo is well done.

I like the flowers and other objects in the photos as long as the added elements don't distract from the actual subject you're trying to feature.

So you want to play along with the alphabet meme, eh? How about the letter "S" for you since your blog title begins with S? ;o)

Have a great week, my friend.

Love and hugs,

Diane
